So, is anyone prepared to put their credibility on the line and declare their tips for near future economic situation? lets keep the prophesying to 2009... What is your take - copy&paste someone else's essay - so long as you acknowledge the author, website, and you agree with that view....

I feel sorry for the many good usanians, as many seem of the view that the **** will hit the fan there big time soon, and US paper will not be sought after, so a safer bet may be in silver or gold metal - which makes nice ballast for a mono sail-boat.... - - - - Wanna buy a small W Pacific Island?

Can not and will not happen, would not be allowed to. You have just seen what the Western governments are prepared to do in difficult circumstances.

That includes almost taking the country to bankruptcy to get out of a mess. They will do it again. Money is nothing to governments--- they own the Mint and the bank, an extra zero here and there wont hurt.!!

Germany has said it can see recovery. US has said similar and Australia has said it is not as bad as it thought.

There are 6 billion people on this planet and not all of them are willing to sit by and watch it go down the pan. Not all of them are affected.

You can bulldoze the lawn and the next day new grass is growing,--such is life on this planet.

Pessimism is useless,---fun,-- but useless.

I am just after another point of view, I do not see a "rapid fall from grace" of any country or economic position but there will be a shift from a currency that is fluctuating too much to be a useful currency for international exchange (the US$)... Moodys may be in the hip pocket and never change from a "AAA rating" for the USA but one default or conclusive evidence that the USA's books are cooked and the real position is not good, then easing out and away is the only option... USA is incapable of repaying its current debts by any other means than "monetisation" - the inflationary practice of printing money that is as valuable as the recoverable value of the paper on which it is printed...

Frosty just "speed read" the links in post 513 above, to get a broad understanding of the economic situation... There is quite a bit of turmoil and uncertainty in the global economic situation...

Frosty, this is one view, a bit severe for me as yet, but still plausible, "IF".... http://financialsense.com/editorials/casey/2009/0625.html

Money is frightening stuff anyway. Some people can never understand it Elvis for one and Now Michale Jackson who died of a heart attack yesterday.

He has spent the last 4 or 5 years in Bahrain with a Muslim womans head gear on so as to not reveal his identity to live a near normal life .

Sad really. Yet Jay Lenno does'nt have this prob.

I thought cross dressing was a "no no" in that society? Would be interesting to see how "The Simpsons" cartoon treat that? The Man could sing and dance but needed serious guidance in the rest of his life, which seemed sadly lacking....

Just for you Frosty http://financialsense.com/fsu/editorials/mercgeo/2009/0626.html you need to read this...

From here for the full article http://financialsense.com/fsu/editorials/ti/2009/0626.html but this exerpt is the core...
"...The Chinese by nature are very respectful when addressed by leaders and therefore, what occurred a few weeks ago when Treasury secretary Geithner addressed the students at the prestigious Peking university is very telling.

"Chinese assets are very safe," Geithner said in response to a question after a speech at Peking University, where he studied Chinese as a student in the 1980s.

His answer drew loud laughter from his student audience, reflecting scepticism in China about the wisdom of a developing country accumulating a vast stockpile of foreign reserves instead of spending the money to raise living standards at home. "(full details here http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/latest/5620323/geithner-tells-china-its-dollar-assets-are-safe/ )

The fact that these students laughed loudly clearly indicates that the Chinese have no faith that the US government is concerned with preserving the value of the dollar. As of March China had 786 billion dollars invested in treasuries. As we have repeatedly stated in the past Chinese are very advanced chess players and what makes them even more formidable is their capacity to be extremely patient. China basically controls the US now, those that control the strings of the purse control the nation. If china threatens to sell its treasury holdings it would literally break the bond market and drive interest rates to record levels in a matter of days.

While the above story is a good measure of the dollars' long term demise, it is not accurate in terms of its short to intermediate term direction. There is a very good chance that the dollar could actually go on to test its 2008 Oct-Nov highs, and possibly even put in a new high. The testing of its old highs will mark the beginning of the end for the dollar; from there it could lose up to 60% of its value before it stabilises, which means commodity prices will literally explode across the board.

However, for this short term scenario to remain valid the dollar cannot trade below 78 for more than 3-4 days in a row; if it does then the chances of it rallying to new highs will have diminished significantly. The dollar traded as low as 78.35 and then immediately rallied from these levels; this is a good initial sign for it shows that the 78 price point level is a zone of strong support. The rally we are expecting in the dollar coincides very nicely with the rally that is set to occur in the bond markets; when individuals purchase bonds, they are indirectly opening up long positions in the dollar (in other words, other words they are buying the dollar). As with the bond market we are expecting the dollar to put in its final high in the next 6-12 months and then embark on a long down trend that could result in a total loss of up to 60% of its former value."

I think this one begs the question and a bit of maths http://financialsense.com/fsu/editorials/ash/2009/0626.html If the graf expresses that 18% is the amount of social security paid when compared to the total wages disbursement then what is the average wage and how many wage-earners are represented here, then what is the social security payment per person? from those figures one should be able to "reverse engineer" the number of recipients on Social security, you have the number employed - - I would be so bold as to suggest you may approach 25% unemployed in USA? PROVE ME WRONG.... please...

A severe and significant problem for "Baby Boomers" and retirees - read on... http://financialsense.com/fsu/editorials/deepcaster/2009/0626.html

"Not Green Shoots - Just Falling Leaves" the title says it all, for explanation read on http://financialsense.com/fsu/editorials/schiff/2009/0625.html

This last is for Boston and the traders (can you guys sing? good group name:D:D) http://financialsense.com/editorials/swenlin/2009/0626.html and http://financialsense.com/Experts/ewave/2009/0626.html and http://financialsense.com/Market/wrapup.htm

Mass I just cant read all your links because well--basically I just dont believe anyone and as it is all in the future they are just guessing.

Take 1 year year ago,-- oil was going to reach 200dollar. gold would be over a thousand at least. Etc etc.

Brain farts at best.

Under these circumstances I can do nothing but follow my own interpretation of the situation, and I think it is all over.

B. Obama is not to blame for everything, the US system is such that the REAL power rests with "the Money Controllers" as they OWN the Press to print the money - The FED is NOT owned or controlled by your Government it is a FOR PROFIT organisation OWNED (controlled) by a group of BANKS who "rent" money (to put it very simplistically) to the US Government.... The Money Controllers are the big bad guys.... Your entire government has been bought out by big money interests.... - - - - That is a simple but accurate explanation of the US system compared to a true democracy.... Obama is just another pawn (only a bit bigger) just as all usanians and most of the other citizens of this world, but us outsiders cannot vote & without that ability to pressure congress to get rid of the FED and run its replacement as an AUTONOMOUS NON-PROFIT organisation with clearly defined audit/duties/responsibilities that can be changed by referendum and backed by Gold (but not necessarily linked to the value of gold) - That may set the USA back on the path of global economic influence... but until then not much better than a dead man walking....

The FED MUST be controlled and cleaned up before the rest of the world will even consider placing greater trust in the US$...

BMW's are like Harley's, HEAPS of chutzpah but a pain to maintain and one cannot expect everyday reliability with minimal hassle...

I used to like Obama, now i think hes over his position. Who does he think he is President of America?

He has his nose in so many places he cant possibly have time to have his nose in the places it should be.

Frosty, wait for two or three hours to download the talk in your preferred format (right clock and "save link as" with the mouse over your desired format either of "RealPlayer | WinAmp | Windows Media | Mp3" when it is highlighted blue here http://www.financialsense.com/fsn/main.html ) - It waffles on a bit but it is FREE...

This will possibly be an interesting talk (second hour Guest expert) http://www.financialsense.com/fsn/main.html (should be loaded in 2 or 3 hours) or book as this primer suggests http://www.financialsense.com/Experts/2009/Rubin.html - We must all "think outside the box" of our comfort zone, as new and unexpected challenges will surely confront us all... The good is better community and local things such as really 'picked ripe' and available only in season fruit, vegetables, meat, milk etc from local markets where a chat with new found neighbours and friends whilst listening to "unplugged music".... Restore your hippy roots and dig out those recipe books to sell some home-cooked goodies at your own Saturday stall....

Cor blimy I should coco.

Im a hypermarket kind a guy. I dont like fresh fruit it gives me the shits and why would I want to stand around in a smelly market talking to people that know FA.

There is no one thinks more out of the box that me, hence I am a poor mixer. I tend to think everyone I meet is a prick,--almost without exception.
