Global Warming a New Report

Micah didn't post poem by Sylvia Bukowski. I did. Religion is a personal choice and right. I would not force my beliefs upon others, but will defend our freedom of religion. I will always respond when I see that freedom under attack.

Hoyt my post was not in reference to Your Sylvia Bukowski's poem, and definately not an attack upon Micah's or anyone elses beliefs but more or less to interject that there is a time and place. Like yourself I am a strong believer in rights and freedoms and it is the rights of some members to have freedom from religious teachings that do not necessarly follow their beliefs. Especially of all things in a Boat Forum for Gods Sake Have a good day, "Most" Respectfully Geo.

Judging by his reaction, I think the irony went right over his head.

Which isn't surprising, considering this is rational to believers.

The belief that a Cosmic Jewish Zombie, who is his own Father, can make you live forever, if you symbolically eat his flesh and drink his blood, while telepathically telling him that you accept him as your Master, so that he can remove an evil force from your soul, which is present in all humanity because a woman made out of one rib bone and a mound of dirt was tricked into eating fruit from a magical tree by a talking snake.

SamSam while I don't agree with Micah's posts, religious content I find your "quote" reference extremely distasteful and uncalled for and why even more than politics we have to keep religion off this table. My last post on this thread --- Thanks Hoyt for that kind reply --Geo.

Report: Effects of climate change seen everywhere |USA TODAY

Climate change is affecting all parts of the globe, and the gap between the latest science on climatic change and government action to cut greenhouse emissions remains large, according to a sweeping U.N. report out today.

If left unchecked, the report finds that climate-change risks include:

•Coastal flooding, which will devastate areas near the shore.

•Widespread hunger due to warming, drought and severe downpours.

•Damage to big cities because of inland flooding.

•Extreme weather and storms, damaging some of the things we take for granted, like electricity, running water and emergency services.

Global warming can not be checked in our lifetime nor I suspect within our children's and grand children's lifetime with new nations progressing into our western way of life. We are simply attempting to slow it down and eventually hold it in check within the next 200 yrs. or so years and reap the fruits of full global co operation introducing and enforcing laws on emissions. That is barring the world population not being reduced by 50 to 75 % thru warfare or disease, in which case the end result of global warming will be the same.

Arctic Sea Ice Sits at Record Low for Mid-February

Arctic sea ice growth has slowed dramatically in recent weeks, thanks in large part to abnormally warm air and water temperatures. Sea ice now sits at record low levels for mid-February.

According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, as of February 18, sea ice covered about 14.36 million square kilometers in the Arctic. The previous low on this date was 14.37 million square kilometers in 2006.

The main culprit — in addition to the overall trend of global warming — is likely the rash of warm temperatures. With the polar vortex bringing cold air down to the U.S. this winter, warmer temperatures have been the norm in the Arctic. From February 1-17, temperatures were 7.2° to 14.4°F above normal for much of the Arctic. Some areas have been even warmer.
