Buccaneer 28 Trimaran plans.

Living the dream

How did I get old before I finally got a "big" cruising multi?
Maybe "Regrets"?

How about "Threedom"....??

Three (hulls) plus freedom, obviously...and perhaps a play on "Threesome"

LOL

The man is a legend on many fronts !

Thanks for the plans. A 28 is an interesting size, not that much larger than my 24 KHSD, but some actually room. And more sea capacity.

Construction details

OS, I am drilling holes in parts for my 33- new beams ect. (its getting closer to launch), and have a couple of detail questions.
Did you use a central measuring point (datum? point) when building to get everything level and square?
Is the outer fiberglass lay up thicker below the water line on the main hull?
Any help/thoughts appreciated.
Bruce

Hi Bruce.
Drilling, cutting and chamfering of the tubes were done according to specs, by ALCAN, before triple anodising the tubes. Installing the tubes in the frame boxes was done by the clients own people, so I can't help you on the 33s. On RobinKnox Paul Webb did it himself.
On the 28s we built we drilled the bolt holes horizontally thru the beam boxes by measurement, marking and hand drilling. Not tricky really.

Refer to sheet I, top R/H corner in conjunction with the building instructions.

Well, It's been nearly four and a half years since this thread started.
Has anyone actually come up yet with a complete and usable set of paper plans for this wonderful trimaran :?:

Hi Os7 and all who hold interest in these plans.
We have a set however they need some work to bring them back to a form for reliable accurate digital reproduction.
Presently we are at capacity with design and engineering work plus Tri and the Ezifold Cat prototype builds.
We will get onto restoration of the B28 plans as soon as Geoff, myself or our newly employed designer Nick have a moment.
Cheers

plans for the elusive 28

OS, Last year, before I got the 33, I did have a local blueprint shop print one full size sheet of the 28 plans that are posted on line. It "looks" ok, but without a "real" set to compare it to I can't say that you could build from them. Printing full scale with tight lines was not a problem for the print shop. It is a much more complex design than the 24, so accurate frame patterns and details would be very important.

Guys, please try and remember that seastallion and I built an ama from those digital plans that we printed ourselves. That ama is identical to the existing ama we had. The originals sestallion has are stored away and are never taken out as their condition on a few parts is a little delicate.

I dont know why people keep asking about them. The plan set is up. Build a boat.

lotta talk on this forum with very little doing, except for a select few including myself. My personal tri should hit the water in a months time barring unforseen issues. I could launch next week but I'm in some heavy (12hrs a day for 9 days, then 3 exams) training right now to advance my career, aka buy more boat crap! :)

New pictures?

Soon? Congrats on your progress SS!
So there we have it, 24 and 28 plans- now maybe plans for the B-33? Just hoping ;)

Hi bruceb Reuben and others
Just an update re buc 28 plans.
Nick printed a couple off today as 2far2drive suggested he is of the opinion a scale box addition as is common interformat document transferring for printing would negate any confusion as to scale of printed plans when complete.

He quite likes a challenge so has scanned our set today and has the file with him to work on in his own personal home time so a bit of Nick overtime should see them done.
Upon completion if someone wants a paper copy they can get in touch.

Also a European associate thinks he is onto a buc 33 complete plan set for us so fingers crossed!!!!! Will keep all posted.
