I'm afraid we've lost our valuable forum member Ancient Kayaker, aka Terry Haines from Alliston, Ontario, Canada.

My condolences go out to his family and all who loved him.

    Very, very sad news. :(
Terry was such a pleasant person, and there was always something I would learn from his posts. Condolences to his family, if they ever happen to read this.

AS a person who lived in Canada and knew Alliston well, I had an affinity with Ancient Kayaker (AKA Terry Haines) and am very sad to hear of his departure from this mortal coil. Alas, it comes to us all in the end and every time an associate or old friend drops off the twig I become very aware that I am past my use by date. A very sobering thought. Vale,Terry. RIP.

Terry was a good guy, a friend and a client. He was an avid, active builder of small craft and a constant experimenter on just about everything. He'd been struggling for some time, but he never gave up and showed remarkable metal and a respectful reserve, that we all enjoyed here.

I'm glad he went out as an ancient kayaker, rather than a young one ! Vale.

Here's a small slideshow of Terry with his family, friends, dogs and a sailing kayak.

The one with the kayak - and experimental rig ? - is here to stay with the thread.

    Thanks Angélique.
To the comments posted already I can only add that Terry deserved another 20 years. A thoughtful level headed contributor to the forum, we'll certainly miss his ongoing participation.
