I have a feeling Skipper has had enough as from my 12 years living in China, to deliberately try and make someone lose face and mock them in front of a crowd let alone this boat forum is the worst thing you can do.

Thanks for the explanation. We learn by making mistakes and getting called on them. I had just read through your old post about folding trailerable pontoon barges and saw a similar process unfolding before coming back here and finding your post. Interesting, I have much to learn. Hopefully Skipper will come to realize that no one was deliberately trying to embarrass him and that we are not intentionally as bad as we appear.

The concept of loosing face is unfamiliar in many parts of the world. I have heard of it but have too little experience to understand it. It is difficult to navigate the minefield of cultural differences. No one is likely to have checked his location and made adjustments before responding, especially without understanding what to expect. He said that he was not from China, but had been living there for a long time. Hard to know how young he was when he moved there and how steeped in the culture he had become. I don't think that the comments were intended to offend, just to express some doubt as to the claims made. It takes some time to establish a reputation here and learn how the other people communicate as well. We never know exactly what to expect.

@Skipper when you finally decide on a design, it would be well worthwhile to at least build yourself a model first, to see how it looks - and if it is a sailing model, with ballast, then you can see how it sails as well, especially so if you install a basic remote control unit.
