Length/seaworthiness

If trailing is a requirement, fixed fin keels are hard work.

Consider that most Skerry Cruisers were designed from the get-go for flat water cruising in the Baltic, and the tall rigs to catch wind while sailing behind rocks. The short rather than full length keel helps with manouvers in tight spaces. They work perfectly in their enviroment, but they were never built to offshore standards, just like Folkboats were built heavier in the UK, compared to those in the Nordics.

If you want a long skinny with centreboard, how about this bolger?

I found nothing, but my google-fu can be lacking. I know the original keel was swapped out for one half ton lighter but draft was increased to 14ft.
She never took part in the 90-91 BOC. Probably an interesting back story somewhere, or just plain lack of sponsorship. Where is she now i wonder?

Thanks.
J. Slocum's liberdade is another one.

That breakdown schooner is very interesting.
I wonder how it comes apart.

Being able to demount the hull for transport ( or to haul out a single section for repair) is an interesting idea, especially if the boat has separate watertight bulkheads anyway.
There would be weight, strength, and complexity penalty, but it might be worth it.

The middle section bolts through the aft and forward bulkheads sections. It could be built in one piece, preferable perhaps if you did not need to road transport it. Poor mans Holger Danske.
