Will the ability to operate in reverse make up for the low top speed inflicted on the boat by the narrow stern?

Is it a style thing (yes there pretty) or a operational requirement?

If I was to build production 40 footers of the similar design, do any of you feel it is a marketable proposition, or am I still the only one that would buy one. I can sell it for about $500k, either glass or steel hull, teak fitout, engine of your choice.

I have plans that i did many years ago, just too scared to go ahead and make a mould (for plastic) as I feel plastic boats are more "Marketable", despite my personal preferrance for steel long range cruising.
