Capsize Prevention Devices

Builders of catamarans choose high aspect ratio rigs for aerodynamic efficiency-end of.Weird rigs with odd mast placements may be a substitute for watchful sailors,but in the real world they won't find many customers.Who really wants to select a rig that marks them out as an inattentive sailor that is happy to sacrifice performance?There is something perverse about selecting a performance hull form and sitting a peculiar rig on it due to fears of disaster.Maybe sailors with those concerns should just get hold of a Colin Archer type of boat.

@wet feet,
So i guess your next step would be to label these sailors with fears of disasters,... as cowards or whatever?
Sailors that might be looking at alternative rigs and particular devices to limit capsize potentials.

Real intelligent submission :rolleyes: o_O

Your guess would be wrong,anybody with exceptionally high anxiety levels about possible disasters probably ought to limit their choice to those types of vessel that would minimise their fears.Rigs that are a long way from the mainstream tend to do very badly in straight comparisons with more conventional boats,so why expend lots of effort creating or justifying something freakish that performs poorly?Any boat is a bundle of compromises and the sensible choice is to select a boat that does what you require,while not straying too far from the mainstream because at some point you or your executors will have less difficulty finding a new owner for it.

I have a friend who says that reasoned debate with a single issue fanatic is impossible and he may be right.I have just done something I never expected to do on the topic of boat discussion,bye.

The thousands of Wharram owners.

How about this rather conventional design?
Atlantic 70F https://www.chriswhitedesigns.com/atlantic-70f

or this wishbone A rig

there are others where the sailors were bold enough to go forward,...beyond convention !

An aft mast rigging is particularly vulnerable in big troughs, talking about capsize prevention for a rig designed for fair weather doesn't leave much room for intelligent submissions. Your designs are really interesting and you have solved many compromises in a ingenious way, the above response is below your standards.
