Hoyt, you the Man, The story, a nice addition to the photos. In taking the photos I also wanted to capture the unique patterns in the beach rocks. It was in the afternoon of a hot sunny Sept. day so the lighting was great. One of those rare cases where armatures can take a good shot. Notice after all the years of exposure the deck plank wood is still attached to the bollards.

That pebbly beach looks a good candidate to check for precious metals, if it weren't so loaded with iron, a metal detector would be less than useless.

steam power

Doing the tourist thing today I went on an old paddle steamer . I have never been on a steamer before and I was quite Impressed with how smooth and quiet it was. Can someone tell me why aussie paddle wheelers are side wheel and a lot of american boats used stern wheels.
