It is sad to think of Dick Newick no longer here but the beyond certainly has need for beautiful, fast boats. He did have a fresh performance perspective....a few years back I called him again to talk about a design and he asked me about the weather patterns. I told him that with the global warming the velocities were starting to pick up at times here. He had the right rose colored glasses to put the changing world in perspective. "Great!" he said, "You'll be able to sail faster....." Cheers

I am greatly saddened to hear that Dick Newick is no longer with us.
He was one of the giants of the multihull revolution, and his contribution to the field of multihull sailing will be forever respected. He will always be remembered for his saying, Multihulls should be kept light, and never be cluttered up with "Modern Inconveniences". He never bragged about his designs, leaving their performances and elegant good looks to speak for themselves. He has now gone to join the others of his time in the history of multihull development. RIP.

Dick gave a really interesting talk at NZMYC about 4 years ago. He struck me as a real gentleman. Condolences to his family and friends.
