how deep would you think it'd sit? given the shape in the drawing. each square is 10cm. the rear view, can be wider , the hull part, in the drawing it is at 1m wide, give or take
the weight i am trying to keep to a minimum, but, fiber glass hull, needed, and that with a steel/iron skeleton, with a built in chassis to hold everything sa , still have to weigh the material at hand, to know the wheight, designin the skeleton, calculate weight, plus fiber glass
 
and i could also use two barrels or two floates like the rv suggested earlier. why not? , between the pedals/mid drive motor and the flywheel assembly i would retain the bycicle gearing sistem, so let's say 21 or 28 speed, so many gears. it would take a little time to speed up the flywheel but, it would also have a lot of momentum, if you attatch a generator dirrectly to that axle, it would be able to produce a lot of eletricity, and to that one or more disks, flywheels, i attach an axle, thru a clutch, that axle would power two bycicle rear full 21 or 28 speed gearing and drive systems. i think it would potentially work really well, so, even if all fails, like solar gives out, generator gives out, i still can power the two rear wheels thru pedalling
 
and on land keep the whole rig under 35 km/h , kp/h more like a max speed of 25 kp/h is my target
 
The flywheel is doing nothing but creating a power loss. 100 Watts at the pedals is not going to move the vehicle at any reasonable speed. If there is wind it will go backwards. The amount of gears is not going to make any difference. Boat designed for minimum power should be as light as possible and have a hull design with very low resistance. Dragging a chassis, wheels, drive shaft and other mechanical systems will create a huge amount of resistance; more than can be overcome by pedalling. One of the main issues is that the engine and transmission are under water. That is a major problem. You need to write a Statement of Requirements (SOR). This defines what you want to do, constraints (things that can't be changed), everything your would like, regulations to comply with, etc. Once all that is determined, you have to look at what things are in conflict and correct the SOR. You will go around and around until it gets to an acceptable description of what the design should be. The design will then be driven by the SOR. What is that you really want to do? If it is to travel by water, a used boat will get you anywhere in the world there is water. It will be cheaper, more comfortable, and you will not run into continuos problem with authorities about a home made vehicle that is not legal on the road.

I've often thought about something like this.
I ended up thinking that I would settle for something that could drag itself onto fairly uneven remote locations, above the tide line, or the local boat ramp.
If I needed to relocate to a purely land address, for say overwintering, I would hire transport.

That way, you can save a fortune on roadworthy needs, and dispense with automotive type moving technology.

Years ago, a guy built a 7o ft steel boat, and had to move inland a bit. He just put two hydraulic rams on each side, and push/walked it like a mine drag machine. To get it back, he just reversed the direction.
 
You could just buy one, not that that's as fun.

buying isn't fun, travelling by plane is no adventure.... and so on. i would just build the thing and just see how far it takes me.. YOLO. i really don't give a rat's..... abt laws or what people mght say. if they (any country) were to take it away, cease it, i would just build another and go on. so if any of you guys whishes to help, just ignore laws, i mean pretend that laws wouldn't be an inconvenience. i'm only interrested in the phisics part of it.
 
for example in Romania, where i'm from, the laws states that, any pushed/pulled vehicle and bicycles do not need to be registered to travel on public roads. well this would be a quadcycle going on that line.... it should be fine, still i am going to ask around. it might be that i have to register it locally at the city hall, but i think that i can not cross borders with those reg numbers (number plates)
 
forgot to mention i am a trained mechanic and a home electrician , as well maintained hobbies : electronics,IT, languages (i speak 6 right now)
 
Gonzo , the flywheel in my case is actually just like a capacitor , it helps with starting to move... the hardest part is to get the thing moving, once it is moving it is much easier to accelerate. and it also helps with steep inclines. so i do not loose that much momentum going up a hill. when i am allready moving it is actually useless, well i mean in the power sense, it still can power wheels if i stop pedalling , and it also can laterally stabilize the vehicle, like a gyroscope, and as i said the incline part, it acts as a buffer between the wheels and the pedals. the same reason why cars/trucks have flywheels, to act as a buffer between the gearbox and the engine, diesel engines have heavyer flywheels
