Hi
I have a 1984 70hp johnson that I bought 2 years ago. Now it ran awesome until last week. Now I will prime the primer ball and it'll fill the carb bowls and then I'll fire it up. It starts no problem. But then after a minute or two it chokes itself out. I have cleaned the carbs. New plugs and fresh mixture of oil/fuel.
I am baffled and have no idea where to go from here. If anyone has any ideas.
Please help
Thanks

I have changed all fuel lines and new fittings. And it hasn't changed much. Seems to run a slight bit better but not good. It still stalls everytime

Check fuel pump. Diaphagm may be perforated. Or, first elevate a tote tank so it is higher than the engine, and see if that allows it to run. That would indicate it is the pump. You may have debris blocking the entry to the pump too.

Where would the pump be located? Or what does it look like?

The first thing you should buy next is a manual for this engine, like this one, for 30 bucks.

Once you have it, run through the basic tuneup and diagnostic routines.

I can't find them. Any dealership I've been to has a hard time getting their own hands on them
