As Gonzo says, the displacement can change between light and loaded - and this change can be quite significant when you take into account the weight of the fuel, fresh water, stores and crew on board.

Also note that the draft will change (increase slightly) without any change of displacement if you move from sea water (which has a density of approx 1,025 kg / cubic metre), to fresh water (which has a density of approx 1,000 kg / cubic metre).
Yes, in each approx 3' square box of sea water there is approx 25 kg (55 lbs) of salt dissolved in the water.

What make / type of boat do you have Jim?
I presume a sailing yacht, as you have posted in the Sailboats Forum?

A boat—yours or any other—weighs the same as the water it displaces. That is the direct answer to the question, just as Gonzo stated. Trying to explain concepts like lightship weight, full-load displacement, and such "tremendously technical" matters to someone who isn't aware of this basic fact strikes me as a waste of time.
 
My question is, "What is the estimated weight of my boat?" The marina that is going to haul the boat out is asking this question. The boat in question is a 1968 Columbia 36. I'm sure they just need an estimate. I only stated the displacement because I found it on a sales specification sheet without anything about the weight.

12 000 pounds, unless it's grossly overloaded.
 
Did you tell the marina your displacement? They would know that is the same as the weight of your boat. If they don't know that, question whether you want them doing any work on your boat.

Unless it is a custom boat, marinas usually use the published data plus a safety margin.

Yes, I did tell the marina and that was enough to schedule a haul-out.
