SWATH resistance predictions using Michlet

Just make the resistance smaller,I mean when the ship is moving the connection strutures will be lift to air,only 4 thin pillars pass through the water line.in other words,this ship will have two work mode, the up one and the lower one on picture,which one to be use depends on different situation( this idea maybe not mature and reasonable,but i want to make a little try~~

Ok..i see what you mean now.

Firstly, you need to understand the correct terminology.

The waterline intersects with the 'strut'.

Below the strut is the tube..above the strut is the haunch(hull).

You then need to understand what causes resistance and what the influences of it are....in the case of a Swath WSA is your killer. So, if you reduce the struts to 2 small bitty sections...the buoyancy in those struts still need to go somewhere...into the tubes. So the tubes become bigger = more WSA.
Also you will improve motions, but your stability - statical stability - will be greatly affected. Since there will not be a restoring moment until the haunches become immersed.

Lots of things for you to consider!....good luck :)

Keep in mind that cylindrical struts will increase the resistance even though they seem smaller.

That it was never put into service and Lider seems to have dissappeared.

She ran aground and breached the 2 stbd side hulls. Was towed back to Louisiana, and declared an insurance write off.
That's the last I heard.

After a period of several years of "legality", she did successfully go into service.
But not for very long....leaving vessels hanging around ideal never used for years, does wonders for machinery :p

They are an extremely seakindly vessel, we sailed her through a typhoon...no issues at all...
