How thick for window glass

This calculation demonstrates that to engineer for extreme sea conditions requires extreme structures. I doubt that very many production boats are designed to withstand this magnitude of force.

I will be wise to stay within sight of land with my Sandpiper.

Sandpiper,

That's correct, but that's because Class Society Rules aren't really meant for production boats.
And the size you're aiming at is also not customery on production boats!!!
But why don't you fit one or two deckbeams on the cabin top, that will reduce the size of the panels and the beams will take most of the loads. You'll need a lot less thickness. And I'll look for an other value for the design pressure, more appropriate for your type of boat (I think 18 kPa is more appropriate).

You can calculate the distance to the moon and back, I believe that the survival of a craft depends for a large part on good seamenship. So, when you go sailing: look at the weather and the water, and enjoy your boat for the reason it's been designed.
Till you go sailing: we'll discuss your look through cabin top and work something out!
