Cary Marine

I am an italian impassioned of nautical, some months ago I have felt to speak of an old company, founded by Don Aronow, called CARY or CARY MARINE; I would like to know if you have some news of this company, when it has been founded, that type of boats produced, if this society is still operational.

unfortunately in the sites from you suitable I have not found a lot;I would like to ask to you and the people that participate in the Forum, if you can give me news on the history of this company and if possible, to have some photos of the Cary 70.

Cary is for all intents and purposes shutdown. Had a 70 there for about 2 years, finally moved it inside and finished it last year, then hauled it away. No other activity since then. I hear the family and atornies are fighting over the carcass of the company. What a shame, I spent a lot of time in the plant in the 70's, great boats..

Is this the same Cary marine that did the wonderful floating gas tank quad big block with I/O 50 and 60 footers?

We didn't do that

We usually put in 2 Detroit Diesels or Caterpillars, We were going to use some experimental Ford truck Turbines converted for marine use, but Ford had a few problems and cancelled the order, maybe now they can make them work better. They would have been great! My dad sold Cary Marine in 1973.

I was just curious cause I know at the hight of late 80's early 90's exis there was a Cary Marine floating around building 50 and 60 footers with quad big blocks and I/O's

4 engines

I recall seeing the 4 engine models. My dad sold cary to some investors from France, then they sold it to some guys from Michigan, I think they were the ones that built the quad setups, and the 70'. By the way, the more the engines, the more there is to go wrong and more to maintain. Some real estate guy named Victor Posner bought it from the guys from Michigan, and moved it to N. Miami. My dad built high performance fishing boats for Aristotle Onassis and Ted Arison (Carnival Cruise Lines).

Humm intersting info there, Yea i used to work around the corner from where they were built in MI, trust me I was not a huge fan of this setup cause working on them only made things 10x times worse, then again the owners of them where a whole other trip. thats for that little history on them though

I think the pig would be done by the time we cleared the harbor entrance. What a Weeney cooker it has on the stern, with a deck area.

I believe they did build a turbine boat or someone took a Cary hull a built one. It was at the Miami show several years ago. If it wasn't a turbine it sure had one hell of a large dry stack!
