    non skid gelcoat

Thanks for the input. I fooled around with the 3m gun and figured out the exact match. Just about the easiest, most effective, and all around user friendly coating one could have. 2-3 coats thinned, then turn the fluid and pressure way down until you get the right size flecks of un-thinned for...

    First Layer On Cold Mold

China is far beyond entering the world as a real player, they are the league officials. I could never understand what my dad was talking about when he said this country was going to ****...Now I know. We live in a disposable world, and China supplies the finest disposable products available...

repair. water in core material in fibreglass boat.

Cut through the skin at the low point, hope it drains out?? If water is traveling through the cells, Either the skin has separated the poly from the honeycomb core, or the poly was not wetted out enough to provide a waterproof layer. Your best chance is that runs true for the whole lamination...

    First Layer On Cold Mold

Calm down fellas, just a joke. I'm quite familiar with the conversion, but equally irritated, just as much so when dealing with fathoms and feet. When you build things by the inch for 25 years the eye is trained to see 1/8" or .125 not .3175, just sayin. potato, potato.

My new bilge pump switch for a Rule 3700

Just FYI, nothing to do with your switch, when your pump quits replace it with a USA made johnson pump. Rule pumps are ***** since they moved production to mex.

    Filling bubbles in mat

In a perfect world, yes there are no bubbles. I'm talking micro bubbles 1/16-1/32" here and there, hand laid glass rolled and the whole bit, not vacuum bagged, it happens. How do I know this, because I uncover it daily, on boats that have been alive for over 20 years without falling apart. I...

    Filling bubbles in mat

Does anyone have a quick trick for filling air bubbles uncovered when sanding mat? Usually I do my layup and follow with mixed filler so there's nothing left to do but sand smooth, everything is monolithic. On the edges of a patch where you have to sand through most of the mat there are...

    Aluminum Starcraft repair questions

If you weld on a riveted alum boat the rivets on both sides of the weld will start leaking. Splash zone is our best bet, and only a bandaid at that.

    non skid gelcoat

That is more like a 30 grit sanded surface. I don't think what I'm talking about it is a molded surface. Usually you can find duplications of one feature in those random patterns that aren't that far apart. I checked out flexmold before posting on here, $53/sqft seems a little rapey. If I wanted...

    Construction adhesives in deck replacement

If you glass the bottom of the deck any moisture intrusion will have no place to go, which will rot the deck.

    non skid gelcoat

Has anyone tried to duplicate or have any insight on the non-skid deck finish that you see on parkers and prolines? It looks like drywall texture that has not been knocked down. I typically spray gelcoat with a g100, my thought is to lay down the first coat flat, and then quickly come over the...

    Lobster boat sponson

The kit, which is hull, cabin, shaft, and rudder, will be done july/aug. Once it gets here we will cut the cabin below the windshield and move it forward to where the trunk starts, and put a deck on it.

    Lobster boat sponson

HnH will begin construction on plan b shortly, so the sponson plan is out. They are also widening an older model at the same time, so I will tour the factory during that process and hopefully gain a bit of knowledge. I knew it could be done. Thanks for all the feedback.

    Crowned panel - predicting shrinkage

If you have .5 tolerance add that to your crown. If it shrinks you have 1" tolerance, if it doesn't you're still good.
