Sven did say that he would be there for approx another week.
But the UGRIB forecasts are very good for a Monday departure.

Lets see. This is giving me valuable real world weather data to understand and analyse.

Hi folks, how is your ships medical knowledge?

Any ideas, what could one do if there was no hospital or doctor.
    What would you do?
I am at a loss here that is why I am asking.

Have a satellite phone and a good book about DIY medical emergency care on board, so you can get medical advice, as well as a good kit of medicines (including antibiotics) to follow the advice from the book or the phone..

I'm glad Sven could go to the hospital... - So in this case, do as the doctor did ;)
There's also some good advice from Sven's late mother...
All the best to Sven, wish him to get well soon :)

    Cheers,
    Angel

When you fit out your micro cruiser put some serious thought and effort into bug proofing her.

Not easy. Cover a small hatch with fine mosquito screen and you have just made that small hatch even smaller ....you will not sleep tonight with sweat dripping into your ears as you toss and turn.

I like huge surface area ...wheel house size...insect tents that fit over hatchs. Many times you can put the burning mosquito coil on deck, inside one of these Tents and still effectively defang the biters inside your micro.

And better get fit (in shape :p) like Sven, because the biggest killer of solo sailor boats and sometimes themselves is fatigue of the skipper...

Two fine boats mentioned in this thread (one by you) were wrecked on their maiden voyage because of that . . . . .

    But . . . on a serious note ;) - good physical shape is safety as well . . . . . .

Manie, thanks for starting to post new progress maps :)

First Spots I'll guess were the testing Sven talks about here.

Please keep up when Sven goes [IMG] - - Hope his injury heals quickly.

Btw, Sven is in the typing mode, send your boat alone . . . . .

    Cheers,

At sea my internet connection does not allow me to read bandwidth intense blogs. I cant read Sven comment.

For mannie and his Micro cruiser, good advise for sleeping correctly, is to fit your bunks with air cushions underneath the bunk mattress. This inflatable air cushion could be a simple beach " lie low", inflatable childs "Alligator" or a custom shaped inflatable wedge. The principal is to level out your bunk and keep you from sleeping on one side in a heap, or from rolling side to side in a seaway downwind. Ive used inflatable underbunk cushions for hundreds of thousands of sea miles. They really make the difference between a night of semi sleep and a night of full shut down rest.
