I recently bought an A-Cat and am going to need to fair the hulls due to a lot of shallow scrapes, dings, and a few chips. Most of the damage is pretty minor, but there are a few places where the original gelcoat has been completely chipped off. My plan is West Systems and 407 to fill and fair the hulls, then come back and spray gel coat to finish. But it has been years since I have done any gel coat work, and while I don't mind sanding, I would much prefer to keep it to a minimum.
The whole repair area is about 6" X 17'
To add to the complexity I would like to switch the color of the repaired areas to lime green.
So on to the questions...
1) any recommendations for a supplier?
2) my air compressor got stolen, and I would prefer not to buy another one just for this job. I am thinking of 10lb CO2 tanks instead. How stupid is this plan?
3) does anyone have experience with Preval disposable sprayer?
I have considered paint instead of gel coat, but I would like to be able to polish this to a racing bottom and am concerned that paint won't hold up to this.
