Yes back from the pyramids ! - Sand surfing boards !

Well I have not been active for a long time so figured to pop in and cause some noise

Hope every one is doing good, i was wondering if any one built sand surfers before? Its basically for well surfing down sand dunes.
A friend has a business and he builds them in Egypt using plywood, glue and a wooden layer at the end (Formayka - still looking for the english word). He then uses wax and sealer to try to preserve the board.

The problem will be mostly how to prolong and enhance the board under extreme heat, sand contact and impacts.
I wanted to suggest that he switched to composite epoxy / wood construction but i am not sure if that is the best choice.

Any thoughts ??

Don't know much about it other than its popular in Morocco.

The board look like normal snow boards.

The problem must be transporting the sand surfer back uphill !!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps do some googling to see if there are special sand boards.

Oh and since boards must be lightweight, perhaps investigate UHMW polyethylene film as the low friction surface.

How about some protection for the hand dragging in the dune, such as a golf glove or other lightweight abrasion protection?

I guess there are 2 different things:
1- Sand surfing (i.e board and such - requires some skills)
2- Sand dunning (basic piece of wood where you sleep on top and slide down like the video).
I guess i need to check with him first and ask for some pictures on the current board they are using.
