Why are barges not hydrodynamic?

    Yeah. Prob'ly right. The running aground with a tow thing... I knew a survivor once. We shant do that. Same goes for snagging catenary on pinnacles. It ends in destruction.

    Ouch, pinnacles waiting to snag the tow wire. Never thought about that one before. Always a new way to screw up presented to us every day.

    Barge is the most efficient shape to fit maximum amount of cargo inside of lock with certain dimensions, fixed for decades. All the rest is fitted or adjusted to that main requirement. (Hence block coefficients above 0.95 are not that uncommon.)
