    Marken island's lighthouse, Holland, close to Amsterdam. :)

    The present lighthouse 'Het Paard van Marken' was built in 1839, upon the foundations of an earlier tower that was broken down that same year. Ijselmeer was still an open sea when the lighthouse was built. In 1971 the wind piled up the ice up till the roof of the keeper's house, but it didn't cause much damage to the residents, as the walls of the house are extra heavily constructed.
