Oh, you're warm, Angel - perhaps warmer than you think! They're more usually spelt 'gansey' in this part of the region.

For the determined, the lifeboat rescue should nail it too.

Oh, and the boats. Its such a shame some vandal spraypainted out the port names. ;)

    Filey

Fisherman sweater = Gansey --> Google: ‘Gansey’ --> First result --> click: ‘Gansey Patterns’ --> ‘Filey pattern’ :)

    Well done again Angel!

The RNLI station had the report up on their website before we got home. I suppose we really must be a nation of dog lovers!

I'd be interested to hear about the pronounced tumblehome towards the stern of these cobles - is this to aid manual hauling of nets?

Those axles are before being widened are rated for maybe 3,000 kilos and stiffened by adding a beam!
I say, nothing wrong with a man knitting those sweaters. If I had the talent, I'd make my own - beautiful!
My boat has a little tumblehome, I think, for esthetics. I assumed boats with an extreme turn there were to minimize deck area in case pooped but I'm sure, looking at these, the ease of hauling nets is absolutely right.

    Hunted down.....

The ship was built in Glasgow and stranded in stormy weather on an island while it was used to break the law and was hunted down by the Navy. Where is this? The name of the beach and the name of the ship and the nickname of the spot are the bonus questions :)

    Good luck !!

It's the only way I can get these - is if I know them outright!

    Very good Mark !!!

    - Greece
    - Zakynthos
    - Navagio Beach (Greek: Ναυάγιο = Shipwreck)
    - aka ‘Smugglers Cove’
    - The MV Panagiotis was used to smuggle cigarettes from Turkey to Italy. Some sources speak about ‘wine, tobacco and women’.

Who is the volunteer for the next round?

    Cheers!

    Angel

    Winter....

    OK :)

In the winter that Alan Shepard walked on the moon this lighthouse was pushed of its place by drifting ice. What is the name of the lighthouse and where is it?

    Good luck !!

    Angel
