    More from yesterday:

    The original German Woodwork of the Captain's Casket whereon the name Horst Wessel is overlaid with Eagle. Tradition says it is bad luck to remove original ship's name, so it is left on and covered up with matching woodwork by American carpentry.

    In Florida you don't need glue to "stick together".

    I have been this weekend at a great meeting of the Gefaell family in Villaviciosa de Odón, close to Madrid. We gathered almost 100 members from Spain, England, Israel and Austria. We missed members from USA and Canada, who could not come.

    The crazy guy in the image is me at the Town Hall, where the Mayor was so kind to receive us. (Photo taken at his seat while waiting for him.... :D )

    Thanks guys. It was a great game. Holland did a terrific (although somewhat rude) job. Spain is now living in a pink cloud. Human nature is amazing.

    Cheers.

    Took my new (old) Barnett Butterfly that I got this spring for it's trial sail this weekend...
    .....................................................{OK...so I'm a little slow...}

    Took my son for his first sail this weekend...

    Son did his first solo this weekend in a sailboat (and went back for more 5 times!)

    Myself, son and boat all made it back alive, intact and upright after a 100% successful weekend. Even caught a few fish to boot! Too bad it's the last free time I'll have until next summer....Bummer.

    As a member of the board of the Galician Federation of Traditional Boats Associations (http://www.culturamaritima.org/), this wekend I went with my good old "Marie" to attend a gathering of traditional galician Rias cargo boats ("galeones") at Vilanova harbour in the Vilagarcía Ria. On top of having a very nice fiesta, we sailed from Vilanova up the Ulla river to the Towers of the West, where the vikings were fighted back by the galicians in the Middle Ages.

    There a group of people from Norway were prepairing a theater work to be played with the ocasion of the "Romería Vikinga" (Catoira's Viking Festival) which takes place every august.

    See more about the Towers of the West and the vikings here: http://www.galiciaguide.com/Catoira-towers.html

    Down here a couple of pictures from the weekend.

    Cheers.
