    Hmm........

A scammer, it seems. Resurrecting a dead thread from months ago simply to try and push a dumb web site up the search engine rankings.

Pretty dumb way of advertising, too, take note of this firm and don't do business with them. If they need to advertise in this underhand way then they are not to be trusted, in my view.

Let's be honest here, you're posting to advertise, not to help the community. In my view that's just scamming, no matter how you dress it up.

It's not as if you were adding useful content to the thread was it? You've made three posts here, one was the reply above the other two are just scam ads for your business.

Nevertheless, I'm sure your trick is working, as this'll give you a few more hits on the search engines.

I'm frankly sick and tired of the way people now just post advert URLs on forums all the time. It's a well-known trick to get themselves up the rankings, being used by every Tom, Dick and Harry now. The only downside is that it tends to piss off any potential customers who have otherwise useful debates disrupted.

    Damage

I take your point Mr Harris, I hate scammers myself, but jumping the gun like that is not good for an honest business I employ 5 full time staff and 7 contractors in these very hard times we find ourselves in, so if your thread has done my reputation damage Il tell my guys to thank people like you, you really need to relax a little Iv been a personnal member on here for many years and given some what I think is great advise, then for the first time I decided to put the company on here as people were asking about water taxi's and I have not been on for some time, as busy with the business, like I said I did not look at the dates, When you flog your balls of getting a business up and running and recieve crap like that it really gets my back up.I am dissapointed you did not like the website, did you look at the main site? as the other is under construction.

I'm glad you take the point. Forums that were previously open and non-commercial places for free exchange of ideas and debate are increasingly being targeted by people like you just looking for a free advertising hoarding.

If you'd done as many of the other professionals in the business do on here, join in a few discussions, establish your credentials and earn the trust and respect of members, and then decided to just make a polite mention of your own business the net result would probably be positive. There are a few NAs on here that I respect, and if I wanted a new boat they'd probably be the first ones I'd go to. On the other hand, someone who just posts here to advertise and makes no positive contribution whatsoever would get the thumbs down.

The bottom line is that I'm probably not alone in seeing your first two posts here as just blatant adverts and suspecting a scam (even if you're as honest as they come, that's what it looks like). I'm also probably not alone in now remembering the name of your company for all the wrong reasons (from your perspective). The boating world is a small place in the UK, as you know, and word gets around. If someone was to ask me if I'd heard of your company would I (or anyone else similarly annoyed at this underhand advertising technique) make a positive comment?

Pissing off some of your potential customer base doesn't seem to me to be a smart move in the middle of a recession.

I am not in this game to appease people like you Mr Harris, if there has been damage done to my reputation then Im affraid my friend it is down to you and you only, I was genuine with my advertisement and if I can give somebody what they are looking for and keep things ticking over then I will do that, regardless of what you might think, I dont know if you have or are running your own business but let me tell you my friend it is not easy and you quite rightly mentioned we are in difficult times, I did not even think for one minute that my advertisement was doing any harm and like I said I have been a member on here personnly for many years, I have even employed guys from this site which was a great success, yes Mr Harris placing people in work and putting food in familys mouths which I do not take lightly and get a great sense of achievment from. I feel so strongly about what i am doing and what I am trying to achieve and beleive I have a great product which I have built from nothing and by god I will not let anybody put me or my company down, this is all I am going to say on the matter and only hope that you will get the facts before you point the finger in future.

You're a salesman trying to advertise for free in an inappropriate discussion forum on boat design, not a boat sales website or whatever.

Go off and place your adverts elsewhere.

    No more need be said.
