I think we all felt for vulkyn and his family when this started. But since Libya an Oh my god Sirya --- Egypt had a picnic in comparison.

What an awful position to be in! Fearful of speaking out in your own country.
At least there is some leadership. Enough to schedule Parliamentary elections.

    We hope that works.
Thinking back to the birth of American Government, we were in much the same muddy waters.

After Parliament gets seated? Then what or who will control the ARMY to bring you back to a Civilian Government with a series of Checks n' Balances?

How about freedom from control by any Religion? Is that in the works?

The violence, death's and sect problems have sky rocketed since the revolution. The people who are trying to use religion for politics is by far the biggest threat imo i mean any one who labels religion in politics does not have my vote ....

Doug: Thanks its been a roller coaster ride i guess with ups and downs. But all is well and the family and friends are safe :)

Fanie: Well still waiting for the approvals :S and i have not shot any one yet nor am i planing too (unless u come to Egypt and we have paintball game that is ;) ).

V, I wish all the liberals in the U.S. Could read your comments.
Maybe the Rule of law, Integrity and Responsibility would come back into vogue?

I accidentally posted my negative rep before I was done with my comments and had a chance to sign it. And I don't post any rep, good or bad, without taking ownership.

I believe it's tacky of you to piggyback your partisan American politics on Vulkyn's situation -- which happens to be completely unlike anything we're facing here in this country.

Whhooaaa Troy being tacky is not point deductive, common you know better than that.

He said it with no insult intended, I hope the admin returns his points.

And Vulkyn, hang in there. I tend to think that in the long run, what comes out of the mess there will be a step forward.

Some people in the US like to portray our history as though we achieved instant Nirvana the moment we successfully separated from the
British. But the truth is that the advance of liberty is a messy process -- and we still aren't done, more than two hundred years after our revolution.

Those who believe our country and government were created whole and perfect have never read the history of Shay's Rebellion. Or the Whiskey Rebellion, where George Washington marched against his own countrymen with an army larger than any he had commanded against the British (fortunately, the show of force alone was sufficient to decide the issue....).

I'm not trying to downgrade our history. I'm trying to point out that our situation after winning our independence wasn't as instantly perfect and pristine as people portray it. And I want to emphasize that we survived anyway, and overall have done pretty well.

You aren't going to know the results of the uprising in Egypt for years, and there will be what seems like as many steps back as forward. Hopefully, in the long run the steps forward will prevail....

I wish you and yours the best.

Actually, he fully intended to insult his fellow Americans, using Vulkyn as his proxy and his excuse. I'd say tackiness on that level is fully deserving of negative rep, because this isn't a thread about conservative Americans' contempt for anyone they consider 'liberals.' It's a thread about the life and death situations Vulkyn, his family and his countrymen are facing.

gotta go with Troy on that one Frosty. V makes a plea for the dangers he's facing in a deteriorating situation. Seems like a good moment to set aside our personal differences.

I had a bad feeling that it would go this way. Read up on Robespierre.

I cant find sympathy, I cant find compassion, I cant find care. Ive lived in the middle east a long time, ive known and worked with many arabs from Lebanese Jordanian and Egyptians. Mostly arabs are unhappy in there own countries be it Egypt, Syria, Yeman, Saudi, Libya, Bahrain, where are they happy? In Uk USA France Germany Norway and who do they blame for thier troubles --the very countries they try to emmigrate to.

And when they get to the country of thier choice they do thier damndest to change that country to the country they left.

I have to admire Australia for thier governments attitude to immigrants that wish to bring thier own country with them.

Perhaps in America you dont have many Arabs with thier Idle Fitra and Idle adda Ive seen such immigrants slaughter goats in the street of England becaue of their religious beliefs and staunchly demand thier right to do so.

I have to say that my country has been destroyed by such immigrants that use our leniancy and kindness agaist us while they claim full on social security by faking incapacity for employment.

My country is consumed and permenantly destroyed , forgive my inhospitable comments but they are hard come by.
