Thanks Vulkyn, for keeping us updated.

While reading your post it occurred to me how similar to our own situation that sounded.
Unemployment has sky rocketed, despite financial growth.
Criminals active, no police to count on.
Lame in the arse government just making promisses.

What one learned out of this is you have to keep your family safe, you have to provide for your family. I am starting to organize a peace of land my father owned for farming, i am not sure how bad things would get but it would be wise to make sure we can at least try to grow part of our own food.

I am trying to sort a legal gun out as well for protection, was in the hospital today for my medical report 3 young boys where shot and killed by armed thugs.

So yah depending on government is not the smartest thing to do, much like using paper to make ur boat water tight ..

It worries me too, a passive government is no government - "Nature abhors a vacuum" - in my experience any vacuum tends to get filled with garbage. The government needs to take hold of the reins before someone steals the horse . . . (again)

Seems to me very few Governments get it right
In the 20 or so countries I have been to, seems Germany has actually more freedom and in the contact I had with police I experienced really firsrt class treatement and manners
NZ is a lefty state with rampant crime and huge social welfare probs Australia has more red tape and brutle police, 4 from 9 of world tazer deaths .
Uk is a mess, filthy and overpopulated . Fr has social issues and so on
I travelled into isolated lands in Turkey and felt safe where I never could feel safe in USA
Fanie has my deepest sympathy as have all law abiding people everywhere.
Ukraine is worst i have been in and from the 16 ex Soviet states has gone back more than any other. Corruption is rampent in Russia Italy Greece
I guess that there are not many places we may call civilized?Cz guns are legal but nobody uses then in crime . Slovakia and Bulgaria you leave your house unattended in winter you lose your windows doors and so on Bugger

C'mon Dean where do you get your information from. I live in Western Australia. Too much red tape?? As long as you have a permit to breath, a licence to **** and accredited to eat there is no problem.

The Western Australian Police force have Tazered one man 14 times at one time, and you call that excessive.

The news today confirmed that only 30% of the Western Australian Police are on report.

    Get your facts straight.

Oh no my house is surrounded, police choppers overhead, oh crap my library books are overdue.

Dear Vulkyn, you have my deepest sympathy. As a reasonably informed israeli, I worry a lot about what is going on down there, and obviously can only hope for the best.
Regarding you personally, I just "met" you today - I guess you are already generally regarded as the "Newbie Leader" in the forum for the many links you have been providing. However the local reality really dawned on me when I read about your plans of growing at least part of your food. That is as down to earth (no pun intended) as it can get - and illustrates the level of disarray in the social structure. "Drip irrigation" is one of the clever israeli inventions, and it might help you as water is scarce in the Middle East. Google it. Use it. And if at all possible, think of us as friends, who value peace and would pay any price to attain it. 63 long years - the age of tiny, little Israel - in a state of war is deeply distressing. A country can take just so much...
This thread allowed me to figure the balanced man you are - and also the level of maturity, solidarity and peace-loving we enjoy in this forum. I am proud to have found you guys.
The growingly daring situation my country faces have us on the edge, and only our deep faith on the Almighty keeps us going. He is the only trustworthy ally we have, you know.

Indeed Aharon drip irrigation was exactly what i was planning and it is indeed a very smart way of irrigation. Growing your own food is always beneficial in good and in bad times.

Bd.net is a second home for many of us (if not first - well for the single folks i guess!) it has been a great place to learn not only about boats but about different mentality and people from all over the world.
It has been and still is an excellent place to learn.

I thank you for your kind words and i second Fanie's comment. (yes fanie i agree with you :D :D :D ).

I wish you the best Aharon and amen to your last statement.

Well its been a long time since i posted. Things in Egypt well have not gone as hoped, after almost 9 months we have yet to take the first step in rebuilding.
The unity that was very clear has dissolved away for factional needs overriding the sense of whole we had.

The past period was basically the army doing everything its not trained to do and the government not doing anything its supposed to do. The result reserves gone down, major problems in work for every sector and a very large drop in stock exchange.

The plan now is to vote for the parliament this month which they should (in theory) choose / modify the new constitution, then presidential elections next year (i honestly doubt this will work according to the schedule set).
    -------

I have had to abandon all boat related operation and just concentrate on surviving this period. It seems like the boat dream keeps slipping away from my grasp, i guess the time is not right .....
Ill try to keep posting every now and then, it has been well a very hard time for us the past couple of months and i am unable to find even the time to do some reading ....

In all cases we shall see how things roll out ... .
Thanks ancient for PMing and for your kind thoughts.
