    Thanks Stove
There was little wind so I didn't get much out of it.
The long race (24 miles is long in this club) was going ok until about the 20 mile point when the leading group of ten hit a big hole and we scattered to find our private breeze. It didn't come but the slow boats did and sailed all over us. That's sailing.
The bay race was a matter of avoiding the big boats so we finished about 15th but I did learn a lot about gybing angles and it's transformed the way we sail downwind. Now I want an assymetric.

    Hi All
I've done a few more races with the new boat, starting to learn how to sail her.
Last weekend we went out in a forecast gale, thinking we'd be clever enough to avoid the worst of it. We reefed several times as the winds around the bay varied a lot with the terrain. The highest speed with the (big) reef in was 13.7 kn, hitting 15.9 with full main. Mostly, we were just trying to stay upright in gusts over 40 kn with violent shifts.
The speed was less than I had expected but I was very impressed with the handling and the stability ; according to earlier calculations, I thought she'd have to go over in that stuff.
Nothing broke so I'm quite pleased.
We got line honours, ten minutes ahead of the next boat, a Dehler 34 mono.
A Seacart 30 capsized in Bass Strait but they were in open water on a lee shore.
No-one hurt, they activated their epirb and were taken off.

    Harry,

Would you post some pictures of your boat. I can visualize much better.

    Well, that didn't work.

Luckily, I didn't use any computer in designing the boat.

    Leak in centreboard case

This is bit off topic, but what did you do to fix the leak? I have the same problem in one ama and the bloody thing still leaks despite grinding it out and troweling in thickened epoxy. Hard to get in there because it is only 25 mm wide
