How do you trailer a 10.5ft wide boat in CA? Do you need to get a permit? Every Time? Haul only during daylite? I am getting several different answers.

    That Caltrans Thing

There's a ten foot width limit on the easily, extra permitted wide load sticker you can get from Caltrans. Beyond that, you are into the realm of hours in the day restrictions, escort vehicles and notification of the Hwy. Patrol office in your area, depending on actual beam and length of the trailer and boat in question.

There are very specific trailering restrictions available on the Internet from Caltrans. and Ch02.pdf

In any event, spend some time at the Permitting part of the Caltrans site and get the info, as well as phone numbers for local Caltrans offices. That's the straight skinny, big-boss and nothing else matters.
