Hi :)

I'm looking for reasonably priced cold weather gear, most of what I've been able to find costs more than my boat, and that's just the jacket, I'm sailing/rowing a 10' dingy and it can get pretty wet.

I have a 7mm two piece "open cell" (actually closed cell but unlined) wetsuit that will keep me warm in 46f water, would that be suitable?

A 7 mm will keep you warm just fine. It will be a bit unyielding to move around though.

Thanx Guys :)

I was hoping the wet suit would be ok, I'm a very new sailor and sooner or later I'll end up in the water and the wetsuit will be much easier to swim in than rain gear, plus it gives me 25 pounds of flotation and automatically floats me face up.

Be pretty warm to row in though, but I suppose I could take the jacket off.

Don't count on it making you float face up. It is not designed for that.

I'll wear a life jacket with it, I'll be alone so I can't be too safe.
I've tested it extensively since I free dive in it and without my weight belt it's almost impossible to float anyway but face up, with a life jacket it should be pretty safe.
