I would think that was a normal approach Doug. The tele makes it look a bit closer than it is, and the waves do the rest to give one the impression of a strange maneuver.

Look at this, there is no doubt possible...........

    And thanks Will!

Anchors away! I wonder who got to pay for that one, the tug owner or the freighter?

The 55 meter yacht La Masquerade was recently involved in a similar " crush "

I can think of a few vessels damaged by ships in port..Lady Moura. Once I witnessed a big ferry crush a small yacht in Greece. Fortunatly no one was aboard the yacht , but the owner was certainly bummed out when he returned to board his pile of floating firewood. Also saw a mid size yacht.. violently torn free from the dock... when a ferry boat in Rhodes lifted its anchor and fouled the yachts anchor. Twenty years ago, the yacht I was captain of was sideswipped by a barge in a Dutch canal. You are Always vulnerable in comercial port.

Sitting in a narrow part of the river here, I have seen a couple of Hit and Runs. Towing vessels is not an exact science.
