Ah, I just wanted more time. I worked an average of 12 hours a day since the epoxy came. I learned so much, I could accomplish more in that time than I did. Now I'm back to evenings, and Saturdays.

Things look good. It is a good time to be patient. I have seen guys really mess up here and have to grind off poor workmanship.

Not trying to scare you, but you don't want air pocketing or dry laminate on the bottom. And rushing usually has very bad results. If you don't have cardboard tubes, buy a stick of 3" pvc. Then you can put two small pieces of blue masking tape at the beginning of the roll. Make the tubes 6" wider than need.

I'll need to build a rack so I can mount those 110# rolls on the wall like rolls of toilet paper.

I put my rolls on a rack and used old well pipe to support the rolls.

That is a 2x8 with 2x4 running flat. This is hooked to the table. You might try cleating to wall, etc. Then I just screwed 2x4 on angle for pipe seat.

I'm wondering about wire brushing or sanding between coats. I did wet on wet on the transom, and squeegeed off the excess epoxy. When cured it was a coarse surface, of course. But glass is right at the surface. Even light sanding took off some glass. Is it necessary to abrade the rough surface of the cured glass?

Yes, but to minimize cutting through always...balancing act

If you want to avoid sanding, you can use peelply, but never apply peelply near gel time or you can really mess up the layup. In general terms, I only use it in a vacuum setting or on areas where I don't want drips or I want a finer surface post cure.

I read a few papers from the aerospace industry on bonding. Apparently peel ply is not as good as abrasion. For the most demanding bonds the researchers found that sandblasting was best, but only if done by a skilled operator.

Peelply has a place. You don't need it much.

An example would be if you ground out a repair. Peelply is nice because it leaves a fairer surface
