    Good thought, George.

That was a bad page in the book of the history of ship design.

Hopefully, with all our blundering about, we humans continue to make progress toward a better society.

    George,

That Zippo might make a good post for the Dealing with Pirates thread; matches (oops, sorry!) the direction that thread has taken lately.

I read the specs on those early river boats on the rivervet website. It's easy to understand why the Navy went to Uniflite for a rugged hull for a "high speed river patrol craft". One word description for those early armored troop carriers, on a river, with their speeds of 8.5 knots peak, 6 knots sustained: targets.

    Aren't Wooden Boats Great!

Found on the web in a photo contest. No info of any sort, but certainly a testimonial to the buoyancy of wooden boats. :D

Who'd have thought a boat of that size would have it's own swimming pool?

[Designer] : Damm!! Typo in the spreadsheet program. Density of water is 1025 NOT 102 :)

    'Heavy water' for nuclear
'Light Water' (as here density 102) for ??

So what is 'light water' used for? come on Trev you got me intrigued

If water was 1/10 the weight (density) we are used to the boat would float deeper. So the typo should have been the other way?

I use it all the time... When you feel light headed, it is the accumulation of this water on the brain... As you know we are about 60% water & in gravity the light water rises, . . . . %hit wrong thread - continues in "drivel"
