In an attempt to out do wacky design ideas that I have seen on here that go no where, I put forth the following: A Winans Cigar ship with a Voith Schneider propeller units fore and aft. Naturally we will have to do away with the steam engine and use diesel engines with a snorkel since the decks tend to go awash in heavy seas. (lounging on deck is overrated, ask anyone from Seattle or London)

Am I missing anything to make this a resounding success?

Edit: I forgot link to info on Cigar ships

Osmium is a little expensive at $36 a gram. Its much cheaper around here to get depleted uranium at $1.11 a gram.

Whats your opinion on using Rubidium for leak detection?

No any type of float switch or wet probe will work. But, I wasn't kidding about the ballast. You should do a motion study. There is reason modern submarines are designed for 60 dergee rolls on the surface.

Cool stuff, never seen it before.

Some of the low profile drug smuggler craft and semi-submersible military craft of North Korea may interest you.

I've posted images of them in the Off-Topic thread of Random Pictures.
