I have a polluted river close by. Someone has to shoot the owner of the golf-course upstream to stop the pollution - but that isn't necessary right now.

Is it fertilizer, nitrogen, urea? The golf course owner should be held responsible for excessive fertilizer runoff. You're probably getting pond scums you didn't know existed...That would tick me off. We are getting pond scum in the states, too!

we ought to start a gun thread
you guys might be surprised what side of that fence I'm sitting on

Thing is I'm still all about eventually getting back to the water before long. Some of you guys might not believe in the worsening conditions but I sure do. My take is we still have a little time to enjoy the world before things really get ugly. But in order to enjoy it for as long as possible I'll need to build a bit heavier and a bit more sea worthy to in order to survive the more intense storms I might encounter.

that said I've already got the prints for Brewers Grand Banks 33 which I'd stretch to 36 and I'm getting the prints for Atkins Great Bear which if I remember is a 36 as well. I'm thinking either of those will deal just fine with the PNW even if the trend towards higher sea states continues and considering that I'm generally going to run from weather.

    oh
my fuel oil thing is working out nicely so far as I got the old Breese Burner working today and although it takes hours to heat up to its max potential it seems to be pounding out heat nicely. Should work as a fuel heating system just fine. Once the fuel is heated it can be more efficiently filtered and run through the centrifuge.

its all part of my evil plan for world domination Mark

I think gun boats cause global cooling because it is a form of diplomacy which makes the other side back down, thereby removing heat from the environment.

Okay, Wad you changed the subject. From that, I will infer that you have NO bottled water, no dehydrated foodstuffs, probably few cans of food, no candles beyond decorative, no medicine, no training in how to patch up a neighbor with a compound fracture... the list goes on. Could you kill an animal to feed your family or would you simply cry for help? Part of being an American is remembering our first-planted roots.
"Who needs a thirty round mag" is crazy talk. Are you serious? I see you are in America but... are you an American? Seriously, how were you brought up that you don't know about our history, the relationship we have with guns, the criticality of the government always knowing that they work for us and the impossibility of subduing our independance. Our guns are a freedom, yes, but more than that, we have an obligation to our forefathers and our progeny to be well-armed and well prepared. As much as you and others like you want to change it, this is a country of self-reliance. This is a country of respecting other's rights and is embodied with a "don't F with me and mine" spirit.

It might be easier if you just left.

Great mats of algae, due to phosphates and nitrogen fertilisers or possibly sewage. However, it doesn't happen in the off-season so sewage is likely not the cause, and it did not happen until about 15-20 years ago.

Could be a farmer but farmers have cut down on fertilisers due to the cost.

Golf course have lots of money and their members like to see the grass grow right up to the edge of the river, so that would be the first place for the mob to head for.

There's another golf course on another river close by and that river is in better condition, but the managers at that golf course seem to be a responsible (or thrifty) lot.

Of course, after 30 rounds the golfers would probably shoot themselves ...

Bos, Maybe things are changing. My question to you is "why do you persue it?" Why do you make a big point out of it being man's fault? You want to give the government more tools to control us? Come on, man! You are as independent as I am. You are a proud Iraquois, right? They will use you to take control and eventually turn like a rabid dog. What has this government done for your people? What has any government done for ANY people? Look at how they promise blacks more welfare checks, "civil rights", hope and change...EVERY ELECTION CYCLE. And what do the blacks get? A continuing cycle of poverty. Look at what the government did to our native parts - they killed them and forced a reservation system. That is the government you want to back on a method of controlling yet another aspect of our lives? You want them to have the power to tax MORE, have a say in MORE, control MORE? Federal government is for common defense from neighboring hoards - THAT'S IT! I'll even go along with the G'damned Global Warming ******** if you'll just back off and realize that there is not a thing that could be done about it even if it were anthropogenic. It's about CONTROL - get it through your head!
