Ummmm.... instead of freaking out on the raw numbers, check out the history of our national debt compared to our annual GDP.

Face it: if someone from 1953 looked at the average income today without taking into account a whole lot of factors, he'd be awed by the 'fact' that even busboys and lettuce pickers have become unimaginably wealthy....

Once again, because your assumptions are incorrect, your conclusions are also incorrect.

Mass of the Atmosphere 5.3 × 10^18 kg
    Mass of the Oceans . . . 1.4 × 10^21 kg

If case you're having trouble with exponential notation, it says that the oceans are ~ 1000 times more massive than the atmosphere. And yes, we humans are significantly increasing the acidity of the oceans. :( But I notice that when clobbered with facts, you just get up, dust yourself off, and carry on as if nothing had happened.

    have they?

I had more spending power and paid less % in taxes in 1970 as a deckhand, then now as a captain.

    I made $16 a day in 1970, now I make $500 a day.

But then i paid 10% tax, now 30%. and a new pickup costs $30,000 intead of $1700! :)

Water is denser than air, hence the greater mass.

But what is the depth of the atmosphere compared to depth of oceans? And certainly, you aren't suggesting the volume of air is less than the planets water? and water covers 70% of earth and air covers...hmmm..is it 99% or 100% . Straining my brain here with %s. (joking) :)

but i used the phrase more massive and should of said more immense. :)
sort of like when people want to imply some military force was obliterated, but erroneously (or maybe correctly) use decimated. (reduced by 10%)

I'm glad you can still smile about it. A lot of that 30 K $ goes to pay for retired union goldbricks.

So are you saying the square root of negative one is more like water than air(not joking, well maybe a little)?

That's a total crock. Leaving aside the ideologically inconvenient fact that the average union worker isn't really a goldbrick, there's also the inconvenient truth that public employees themselves pony up 40% of the contributions to their pension plans -- and most of the rest is covered by investment returns.

I'm disgusted but not surprised by the wave of Republican/conservative propaganda over the last few years, that has tried to convince us policemen, firefighters, teachers, bus drivers, utility workers and janitors are just leeches on society.

    don't label rinos conservative.
I'm conservative. I am NOT a republican, and I respect public servants like police, firemen, teachers, ect.

politicians? are a different matter. usually brown. :)

I am NOT referring to skin color!

As long as Republicans keep spouting the same bs as so-called 'conservatives,' I'll keep lumping them in together. If you have a problem with that, it's your problem -- not mine.

Even your vapid mea culpa is less than accurate. Just because something has greater density does not necessarily mean it is more massive.

For example, even though Earth is 5 times more dense Jupiter (5.52 g/cm³ vs 1.33 g/cm³), Jupiter is 1000 times more massive than Earth (5.97219 × 10^24 kilograms vs 1.89813 × 10^27 kilograms).

Is it any wonder that your arguments are attractive only to Hoyt and his ilk? But I certainly wouldn't want you to strain your brain.

water in a gaseous state is less dense than air
therefore humid air less dense that dry air
