Ironic. I was perusing an older version of this OP.

And low and behold, the 6,000 foot ice cap on antartica was called, 300 foot ...

    From: http://www.jameshovercraft.co.uk/hover/main-galleries.php

Does make me wonder about the veracity of how much water will flood the earth before the coming ice age ...

Further, having read NASA, they even shed much doubt upon the coming gloom.

And knowing a little bit about ice. Even if their impending gloom was realized, they were looking at around a 6 foot increase in the foreseeable future.

So, with typical government overrun, I would expect maybe a foot? Or, should we go with typical government underestimate? Then 6 foot of water would be about 10,000 feet of water, and we had better hope the Himalayas and other refuges warm up a lot ....

Above is the full page quote at this site. The part you quoted I've made bold. However, please note the first paragraph, which you didn't bother to quote. This expedition was traveling on the "(now non-existent) Larsen B ice shelf". What is the Larson B Ice Shelf, why is it now non-existent, and why was it only 100m thick?

From the Wikipedia entry for the Larsen Ice Shelf we learn that:

What - are you talking to Imaginary, do you mean making a fool of a fool selectively quoting non-relevant texts ?

I applaud his untiring efforts to bring some real info to the thread.

Whatever floats his boat i suppose. I would have thought people interested in the subject probably look up those threads anyway.

Reality, we have been warming since the last ice age. Which was a cooling down period after the last hot age. The earth warms up cools down warms up and cools down.

Does man affect that change? Yes. But, should we fear normal cycles just so politicians can become billionaires?

Like the politicians who invented the internet, Al Gore. And yes, he invented and profited from global warming .... All of the things which existed and he had to invent.

    ME?

I invented money, food, fast cars, fast boats, faster planes, and women.

    ;)

    Give me my share.

Its an inconvenient fact that the last warming cycles all resulted in radically accelerating temperatures that caused major catastrophic environmental changes.

Humans weren't even a species for those periods.

One day you will get the message - yes, warming.cooling is a natural cycle - but we (billions of people) may not survive the next warming cycle due to the huge changes in the current natural system.

But you're OK, that's the main thing.

I can but that is good enough.

We 'humans' will not survive much longer no matter what we believe.

We are approaching the end of our life cycle. At current de-evolution, our DNA will not function well enough for our species to continue ....

But, they can profit off of impending doom of global warming now .... the DNA meltdown is still down the road.

I dunno... I'm interested in the subject, and I seriously appreciate the way he's been gathering relevant stuff together and posting in one place. Makes life simpler for me.
