Norwegian built Kombi Jolle dinghy with lug sail

    Hi Grant, I got a Kombi Jolle myself just this winter. Actually just learned that name, I've been calling it a Norsk Nutshell. I've found quite a few Peanut owners on a fb group called "Small Traditional Sailing Boats" that has about 13k members. You should check it out. I've only gotten mine out once since refinishing it from the picture. This Spring though...

    I actually learned sailing on one of these little dinghies on the shores of the Baltic Sea. I must have been three when my dad started taking me out. I haven't seen anybody mentioning this: What is missing in your rig setup, is a line going from the bottom of the dipping lug (the top spar) to the aft end of the boom on either side of the sail. When you tack, you pull on the windward line that dips the lug behind the mast and allows it to go to the leeward side. When you sail, the dipping lug will always sit on the leeward side.
