got the dash trimmed up to fit.

i will be leaving it loose so the new owner can glass the wheelhouse on first and then glass the dash in.

also got the roof mould out and waxed it 3 times this afternoon.

will give it another wax tomorrow and it will be ready for monday.

made a start on laying up the roof today.

got 2 gels on this morning and the first layer of mat this afternoon.

im hoping to have it laid up to thickness tomorrow so its ready for the main wheelhouse to be bonded on whilst still in the mould.

the main wheelhouse will be bonded on using 3 layers of 2oz mat cut in to 2" strips.

they will be wetted out around the edges of the roof and then the wheelhouse lifted on to it upside down and then lifted in to place.

once gone off i will then glass around the inside edge glassing the 2 pieces together.

also i'll be fitting some ribs in the roof.

it will be nice and strong when done.

i managed to get the main wheelhouse bonded on today.

a mate of mine turned up and gave me a hand so we got it bonded on with bonding paste and then 3 layers of mat around the inside edge.

its not coming off in a hurry.

will have it popped out the mould tomorrow and trimmed up ready to go to its new home.

where the roof meets the edge of the wheelhouse i will run a bead of white sikaflex along the join to tidy it up.

all done on the wheelhouse apart from trimming the bottom edge which i'll do just before it goes to its new home as leaving it long protects the edge of the gel.

i have fitted a black edge trim to the wheelhouse roof which i think makes it look a lot better than a bare cut edge.

    thanks mate.

when i designed the wheelhouse it had to have good visibility.

when it eventually has a bulkhead and door fitted the door will open up on to bulkhead and door window and bulkhead window will line up so when open rear visibility is not hampered at all.

That is good planning, small details like that are so important!

I had a little skiff I just sold , Carolina Skiff, which may be a good boat but was completely devoid of attention to detail. Used to aggravate me every time I took it out, glad I sold it.

Can't wait to see your first completed boat, hope somebody purchases one asap so we can watch it come together!

i will be starting on the first one next week.

i had the first drum of Lloyds approved marine resin delivered today. that wasn't cheap.

once this wheelhouse has gone i can then pick up some more combi woven and chopped strand along with 50kg of white gelcoat.

once the first boat is complete grp wise i can then get it CE plated which means i can sell them legally.

im really looking forward to this now.

its been a long time coming.

well the wheelhouse went to its new home this morning and the owner was well chuffed with it.

i had a bit of spare time so i laid up the dash and popped it out the mould today.

i'll be ordering some more materials on monday ready for the big day of starting on the hull moulds.

finally made a start on building the hull.

mould has had 2 good coats of gelcoat and the first layer of mat is on.

i made a start on putting the second layer on but i ran out of 2oz mat.

i got down both sides before i ran out so will pick another roll up monday morning.

i have also ordered 2 rolls off 600/300 combi mat and that should be delivered tuesday.
