    wont be long mate.

had the surveyor out yesterday to give an insurance quote.

as it stands he valued the boat at £50,000 so pretty pleased with that.

got to add a few safety bits before launch like fire extinguishers , fire blanket , smoke alarm , manual bilge pump , extra grab handles inside wheelhouse , stainless surround around the cooker , fuel shut off valves.

he was more than happy with the build quality and said its one of the best built boats he's looked at for a while.

    thanks TANSL

the valuation could go up or down on other boats built due to build specs ie engines and electrics package will vary so valuation could be higher if you had more expensive engines fitted along with bigger spec electronics package and lower if smaller engines fitted.

    boat is almost finished now.

got the folding ladder finished today and now only have a few small jobs to do which some can be done whilst boat is in the marina.

i made a step/cover which helps for getting over the rails and it protects the steering cylinder.

it can easily be moved if i need to get to the cylinder.

Seems impossible that simply splitting a good mono-hull and adding a spacer would create good cat-hull.

Aren't they just too, too different for that to happen?

Then again, I once figured "no way can you just put a cell phone camera up against a telescope and take good pics....gotta be some weird reason that can't work" but it works just that simple.

It will be interesting, I just hope the thing just keeps heading in the direction it is pointed, at all times. Some boats of the kind don't always behave, in that department.

Yes, that's the general approach and one builder actually did this with a 39' V hull mold of mine. But, in the end, each design must be thoroughly reviewed. One critical matter is adequate hull/hull clearance (space between the hulls) and there are guidelines for this.
I have done several asymetric cats (some might call them tunnel hulls) from 20' to 68' and they have worked well.

i worked for them when they first got the big cat on the water.

the plug , mould and cat was built in my workshop and i then worked for them for 3 years.

there new 9mtr cat is nice but the finish internally is not the greatest.

the boat performs really well and should sell pretty easy.

theres a 5mtr tunnel cat built a similar way to mine built about 15 miles away from me and the tunnel clearance is pretty poor but it performs really well.

will find out friday how it performs if the weather allows as friday is launch day.

I have done my own projects like this, ie plug & mould building & can appreciate the amount of work, commitment & skill that has gone into this. For a one man band you have done an amazing job. I have my fingers crossed for your launch on friday, but fairly confident all will be fine. Hats off to you!

the launch didn't happen today as the transport guy let me down and he won't answer his phone to say why.

its now going in on sunday.

got the bait table mounted and some rod holders mounted on the radar arch.
