A friend of mine needed a small portable gasoline generator for working in the countryside. He Bought a cheap chinese job. Took it out of the box, read the instructions, added engine oil, started it up and within two minutes a large pool of oil appeared on the ground. He cancelled the days work and hauled the gen back to the shipyard so he could take a closer look on the workbench.

He discovered that The engine had been assembled without a gasket on the oil pan

And bolts that usually work with a "13" spanner can work with a 12 - 13 or 14 spanner, which means that you always have to lug a lot of "extra" stuff around.

    Objectives:
Improve the returns for coconut growers.
    Effectively utilise all 'waste' by-products.
Facilitate and enhance opportunities in pig raising for livestock sale.
Facilitate poultry farming for eggs and live table bird sale.
Make opportunities for a wharf, warehouse-store, trade-store/shop a viable business.
Core business #1 being coconut oil expeller system factory.
Core business #2 being continuous flow bio-char plant.
In conjunction with electric power generation.
In conjunction with a workshop to maintain the plant and machinery.
In conjunction with a tractor/trailer transport system.
Piggery to utilise “copra-meal” as feedstock to sell live pigs for meat & ceremony
Poultry to utilise “copra-meal” as feedstock to sell eggs and live birds for meat

    How it all works
Local copra, when exported is a lost opportunity as the by-product known as “copra meal” is wasted whereas, when retained by the community it becomes an excellent base feedstock to grow out pigs and poultry. I feel that for remote island communities expelling the oil from coconut meat is the way of the future.

It so follows that, with this semi-centralised oil expelling process operated by highly skilled and trained local workers, - then, there will be lots of shell and husk and other dry matter to justify endeavouring to follow the example of the ancient Amazonian Indians of more than 1000 years ago to create “Terra-preta”.

Research & discussion suggests that pyrolysis of waste from the piggery and poultry sheds may also be treated with great benefit when added to the bio-char from woody materials. This is by using the properties of 'activated' charcoal and inoculated with goodness by maturing with compost and other treated waste products and on maturity, applying it to the leached soils, (denuded of most nutrients over time and slash and burn subsistence farming), will result in great positive effect and benefit to the soils and productivity.

The by-product of expelling coconut oil is called “copra meal' and makes a useful feedstock for pigs and poultry making a complete circle of sustainable products.

What is marketed is coconut oils, (higher value exports/cash crop) as well as pigs and poultry being fed to produce meat and eggs (local market for cash and trade) as well as cleaning up the 'leftover', to be used as fertiliser (local benefit), and soil enhancement products.

All's quiet This Monday morning at the Farm near Kuranda.

Silver Raven is headed for his first radiation therapy - a daily event for the next 3 weeks. He called me yesterday and sounded fit, confident and very positive on beating the "pimples".

The house has been invaded by some very tiny ants (LESS THAN A millimetre - 1/32 of an inch - in length) and DO THEY HAVE A PAINFUL BITE :!: :!: - Thankfully they succumb to insect spray... Even the aggressive green tree ants (half inch long) assiduously seem to give them a wide berth.

Looks like there may be some heavy rain on the Cairns Coast Wednesday (forecast suggests about 50mm/hour) so I will soon be headed down to the boat to re-adjust the mooring lines to better cope with the potential flow in the creeks and likely camp on the boat for a couple of nights, carefully monitoring the weather.

    Hi Moggy,
That certainly gave me pause for thought, HMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... About the best aggregation of recent events of IMPACT. - - - I see opportunities and dastardly troubles ahead and I doubt to many will find or be able to use the opportunities...

Cashed up Japanese retirees or those seeking a tree/rainforest lifestyle change, may like to put their money into farming lands, comparatively cheap around Kuranda/Mareeba (and some is ridiculously overpriced too), and my boat is still for sale, (with a willing lifestyle cruising partner I would not be selling either)...

My tropical island development in Melanesia needs about Au$150K to get some cash-flow happening... Light rain and overcast sky's persist and the water tanks will be recharged to overflowing soon...

http://www.gata.org/node/12429 With counterintuitive action gold price suppression gets more obvious every day A sound reason to continue buying and take delivery of what gold & silver bullion you can afford or find the money to buy...

Where is "Ed Steers Gold& Silver Daily" :?: http://www.caseyresearch.com/gsd shows the edition for the 6th April - - Where is the 8th April, as here it is a day ahead of USA being, Tuesday 9th April... :?:

There is always opportunity, ALWAYS! Doomers and Gloomers often seem to look past that fact.

If I have read the Japanese actions correctly then we will see a further deterioration in US numbers and a stepping up of QE efforts in response. The currency war is changing up a gear.

Europe is the constrained one, get long the Euro... its an odd world eh? Japan is off the leash, as you are aware, the US is now almost duty bound to respond in short order = "RISK ON" as the two main carry trade source currencies step up the game. We are going to have some brave new nominal highs reached over the next few years in various asset classes. Who knows, if they keep it up then maybe we end up with the whole world "priced for perfection" again, ala 2006. That should be by 2016, then we peak, slide in 2017 and blowup again in 2018.... ten years, that is about the cycle.... is it not?

Gold stocks are silly cheap, the leverage off the up coming lows should be mighty impressive.

I think we are probably going to get stronger than is helpful to many. Despite this sub parity talk from the banks about the "true" value of the AUD the fact is we are typically a carry trade destination which means north we go! The AUD chart looks very much like gold to me, a big two year consolidation period from which it is likely we launch higher. I expect this will all coincide with China considerably amping up its government infrastructure spend, the new regime will want to look good ASAP. Commodities back in favor soon? I think it is a good chance..... but then I live and work on the loony fringe :)
