I don't think a supermarket count is comparable with Government unemployment statements.

Here many of the shoppers in Australia are lookers, or enjoying the air-conditioned coolness and NOT buying anything... Even the tourists...

No there are "open-air-markets" well out in the country where there is more space for such recreational activities...

Home for me in Chelmer - up to around 1970, - was . . 70 Victoria Ave., with a tennis court I set up between that street and the house... The original front faced East and was a short walk through the 'gully' to the railway station, N end overpass foot way... 5.25 miles to Brisbane Central by rail (20 minutes on the 'all stations' steam train)...

Well I looked on google maps and -stone the bloody crows- I was in the next block north of 70 and on the same side of the street.Went on street view-couldn't see my old place-must be torn down.
Looks like the tennis courts are now a house.

We'd go to Surfer's/Noosa,Bribie island/etc in my van,we'd camp out for a few days then come home...lovely city but an absolute nightmare trying to find places-nowadays with GPS it's OK.

So long as you are not depending on the "I-phone app" as it is defective leading people heading for Mildura from Adelaide into a remote national park area some 70 km/miles from where they should be - - needing police rescue... Apple has now unlocked the I-phone so that the app from Google is now able to replace the defective Apple app...  :!:

Ive finished fairing your rudder mas, just need to do the final copper coats tomorrow... one question tho, do you remember what laminate or reinforcing was on the tops of the blade, around the shaft?

I figure it will see some considerable load when you beach the boat and some of the boats weight is pressing the rudder into the bottom bearing bush...

And whats the best method, for getting a smooth finish doing the copper coating...? Use a small mohair roller???

This is not alarmist, nor laden with conspiracy theories and other such bullshine, but serves to explain historical evidence and cycles of the earth's climate changes... I found the essay quite interesting and effective in explaining all (well most) of the patterns that change the climate over time... http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article37945.html

http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article37882.html This is what worries me most, and alongside this, concern the published debt of the US Government is a mere bagatelle - - and the so called fiscal cliff a mere pimple on your bum and there is an "easy cure for the so called fiscal cliff - here http://www.wealthwire.com/news/economy/4293?r=1 - The story is about the ability of the President to use platinum as a metal or paper derivative and call it say $1trillion, send several to the FED, who would send the money to the Treasury and then become available for the President to spend and totally circumvent any activity by the Democrats of Republicans who cannot decide on what to do to balance the books and so avoid the "Fiscal Cliff"..... I am sure that it was a 'tongue in cheeky fancy' but if there were such a potential deal would that turn politics on its head in USA :?: :!:

    Hi Groper,
Not much vertical load, as the blade is quite slender and is mostly 'hanging' except when I swing in tidal flows when on very soft sand like at Mackay and sink at least 9 inches, which I usually assiduously avoid   and also why I suggested removing some 4 inches of the bottom of each rudder - the shaft is vertical - so at right angles to that.

The green bush that was on the good rudder showed no sign of compression and should be sufficient to allow adequate clearance when the rudder is turned to 30 degrees P & S, from fore aft position... (from memory it was a bit more than quarter of an inch (7mm) thick)

Laminate on the top end was basically the rolled over ends of the cloth on the sides, levelled around where the shaft comes out to give a seat for the green washer - which I am trying to identify now... Should know in a couple of days... There is a matching levelled area around where the rudder shaft penetrates the hull...

Apply the copper mix in small batches - and apply many THIN layers - - as the copper dust settles, and what is required is for the copper to be in suspension when applied...
