I have one of these with 500 gb drive-was my HD video and picture backup and gps on my circumnavigation of Australia via road.
Bouncing about for 20,000 km,fallen out of the truck, dropped several times, sat on,thrown about and never missed a beat.
Looks terrible, but that theft proofs it.

    Hi Westie,
good to see you are still around, going on another adventure soon?

    Hi downunder,
Yep, blue skys, gentle breezes - if any... perfect for boating... My pension was not in when I was in town so I missed on making an early start tomorrow, so things are delayed for one day, and thence to Brampton - I hope...

My stay in the Pioneer River and walking around Mackay has been a very pleasant experience, meeting many wonderful people... Yesterday some ladies were trying to shephard a pigeon, (near fledging - as many flight feathers were there but not fully developed yet), that had "fallen" to the footpath in attempting to take its first flight... We chatted a while, and someone had gone inside the building to get a ladder to return it to its 'nest', but the bird was persisting in seeking to avoid the "blocking feet" and flee onto the road, so I picked it up and with a slightly more than gentle lob (the bird flew with the move instead of flapping in panic to slow the direction of involuntary flight), I returned it to its nesting area minutes before the ladder arrived - facilitating a means of recording the rescued bird with its sibling...

I did not get my inverter from Jaycar as my pension had not arrived and the tide had turned so that acquisition should be completed today and I will then anchor outside for an early departure tomorrow... (Part two of my interview was broadcast today from the Mackay studio of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation local radio 101.1fm... It may end up on their website as a podcast - who knows...

More reading that tells the truth on Wall St and USA corruption... http://www.rollingstone.com/politic...he-government-wont-fight-wall-street-20120918 - with friends like this - enemies are a mere bagatel, or of no impact/consequence... Good people of USA, your name and reputation is being besmirched and denigrated by the thieves of Wallstreet and their associates in crime...

It makes me very sad and despondent to see the world heading in such a direction that can only lead to a collapse of the standards in society that we all expect and purportedly respect and follow, TRUST in the honesty and fairdealing of all, FAITH in the goodness and caring nature of humanity, LOVE for one another and demonstrated by caring and helping each other... These three cornerstones are mandatory in a functioning society... This present status cannot be found to broadly apply throughout all, (or any larger), communities, and is the mark of society in despair and imminent collapse...

Any one with a Phd or degree or anything relating to economics should give it back.

It should be quite clear now to every one that no economist has the slightest idea what to do.

This should also make it clear that past history of economics has no relation what so ever on what will work in the future.

England has reduced Interest rates to .5% it has been like this some time. They are thinking of reducing it to .25% hands up any one dumb enough to think this could possible do anything.

Watch Bloomberg Tv to see total contradictory advice by economists and bankers daily .

The whole machine is outdated it wont work on the modern world.

We all have computers -if the governments were truley democratic it would be a simple afair to make transmission on Tv votable for an instant democratic vote on anything hourly.

    Ahhhhhh Frosty,
Economics and witchcraft are closely related - Witchcraft often "works"
and economics is no more than lies, b***s**t, Hutspa and fraud and only works less than 50% of the time and mostly for the benefit of the one, (economist), casting the spell... It is used to explain to the sheeple why their money was lost... Good to see that you are still alive and posting :D :D

I am comfortably nestled up in the SW bay of Brampton Island - two other cats are sharing the bay (I think I am the interloper as I am without mast/sails) :D

Tomorrow is to wend my way through or around the "Sir James Smith Group" and thence to Lindeman Island - or if time and inclination permits, the western side of Long Island...

I am amazed that I have internet access ??? WTF ??? Oh well access is appreciated...

Hey Mas you must enjoy the trip.
The whole world is in a mess anyway.
My friends and family that went to the wonderful land of OZ and NZ (many years ago) are struggelling. They are worse of than here.
The irony is that even with all this nonsense.
Now about that mast and sails
watch this video for a bit of a uplift - just a bit of fun
wooden stick - plastic sheeting - and you would be far less dependant on that pension cheque that you have to wait for every month
what you are spending on fuel would cover this a couple of times over
    :D go greener:D

even a pirate / viking square sail is going to save fuel downwind

Once they have taken everything from their best producers of wealth, they will squander it and have almost nothing again. The someone else far less benevolent will come and take take that from them.

    Enjoy your ride.

Mas here is some very good reading on how to make your own mast and sails

    http://www.junkrigassociation.org/

now before the "crowd" ****$ on me, have a good look at this pic from the same website
when you look at the price of fuel
when you realise that you cant sell any boat today for what it cost to build it
build a inexpensive rig - save fuel - and go and get out there

    :) isn't she pretty :)

What can I say? - I arrived in Bowen and will be off again tomorrow... (No internet access yesterday as everything in many resort islands is not functioning (economic downturn and cyclonic devastation and the high Australian dollar that has all the pleebs and sheeple travelling OS instead of seeing their own country...

Funny, not in the mood for beer so I bought some Bundaberg Ginger Beer (non-alcoholic) - but is more expensive... WTF...

Uploading photographs is too difficult and slow with this little dongle device so that will have to await the generosity of James when I arrive in Cairns...

All the mono-hulled sailing boats are trapped in the Bowen Marina as the channel is 1.4M - Oh well so what is new - sit in a marina berth costing around $100 PLUS per week on top or maintenance, insurance, govt fees, repairs and bottom cleaning - what a freaking waste of money...

The trip up was uneventful and the seas and wind was very benign - what comes in this next, northern area?, as they have been experiencing some rain wind and stuff over the past couple of weeks...
