The attachment is for the bottom sheet of a 16 ft. skiff with a 54" bottom ,6 degree deadrise to midship transitioning to a 12 degree bow entry. Is there a simple program that I can use to model and then develop a flat layout to get the stem cut? Help a brother out. Thanks

DelftShip is free and easy to use once you spend a bit of time with it. I have attached a starter hull roughly to your spec.

I normally get the hull how I want it, export it as a part, then import it a number of times into a new layer to produce each developable sheet. The way I have drawn this it would require three layers - bottom, side and transom. Obviously you would need to cut two bottom and two side pieces.

Make sure you get the hull how you want it before breaking it into layers.

I am assuming by now you can open the fbm file with Delftship. If you want help just make posts on this thread and I will follow.

The Delftship development is precise. It will give accuracy to within your ability to cut the sheet. Usually inside 1mm.

I am going thru the tutorial that uses a scanned linesplan. I would like to use this one but its pointing the wrong way. Is there any way to flip it? Rick, I haven't been able to open the fbm file yet. Sorry, not that computer savvy. I appreciate any help. I'll get there

If you start Delftship you should be able to <file> <open> the fbm file I sent you. The hull I have drawn is similar to your drawing.

If you have trouble getting the shape you want then tell me what you need and I will see if I can help.

What do you want to do with the skiff? The way it is shaped now it is more a planing hull. Would not be an efficient low power hull for sails or rowing. With a little modification it could be made more efficient for low power.

Rick, I am trying to design a jon boat style skiff with jet tunnel for my Yamaha jet outboard. I would like to use a 54" wide bottom 16 Ft. loa. The stem cut for the vee entry is the mystery. I would like to utilize the full aluminum sheet and let the chine develop naturally by nature of the constant 6 degree deadrise to midship transitioning to 12 degrees at the bow. I am a little confused when you talk about a jet tunnel and a 6 degree deadrise?? Do you want reverse deadrise in the stern?

I have drawn it with roughly 6 degree deadrise. I also have a vertical transom. This will need to be tilted for the outboard.

It will not be too difficult to make most of the bottom from a single sheet. Are you intending to use a 12ft x 4ft sheet for the stern to mid section? If it is bent it will have a slight radius but that should not be too difficult to blend to for the bow pieces. You will need a bow sheet on either side and welded along the centreline.

Have you got experience in working with aluminium?

I took the liberty of chopping that pic with the trusty, but usless MSpaint

Anyone got plans or know of any for something like this that can be knocked up from nidaplast/core and 400gsm DB and epoxy?
