Just to give update on FACTS about this unfortunate and tragic event gathered from local media and reports that are so far known to public (some backed-up by actual photos taken) without going into any preassumtion of guilt because full investigation has just began. - Collision between comercial catamaran and monohull saining vessel occured in Splitska vrata area (passage between islands of Brač and Šolta) which in the narrowest part is arround 750 meters. - Commercial catamarans operates through the area at 30+ knot speed - Monohull sailing boat was most probably sailing at that time (on video footage taken from catamaran passenger after the impact it is clearly seen collapsed front sail covering the front of the sailing vessel) - Catamaran has dents and scratches on the bow of starboard side of starboard hull (as seen in many photos). - Catamaran's first officer was taken into custody until investigation finishes - Unfortunatelly, one person from the sailing vessel that was missing was found dead (bringing total death toll to four) in the sailing vessel that sunk right after collision to the depth of arround 50 meters - Video footage shown in this video is NOT the moment before colision (as it may seem), but rather after the collision when catamaran already reduced speed significantly (sailing vessel that colided with catamaran can not be seen in this video because it's stuck on the bow of catamaran starboard hull at the moment) The area of Splitska vrata is area of heavy traffic of all kind of vessels, especially during the summer months and it is one of the places in Croatia where I'm more than anywhere else looking all arround me (like a lighthouse light) all the time while sailing. Anyway, official investigation has just began and unfortunatelly, whatever the result will be, nothing can bring back lost lives. Let's just hope that it might trigger more regulation in this area (maybe max speed or separation lines or whatever can bring more safety to the area). "
