What would the difference be in handling/tacking between a cat, an outrigger and a boat like ontong java - with the large but shorter second hull? Which would it behave like - forgetting that it is heavy due to materials used?

I know this thread is getting old but here goes. "Ontong Java" is an atoll about 150 miles due east of Bougainville Island, Papua New Guinea, and that type, style of vessel is a "Lakatoi" they were general cargo carriers and generally sailed from the upper Gulf of Papua down to Milne Bay and sometimes further down to the Louisiade Archipeligo when the north-west winds blew, returning on the south-east trades. Just google "Hiri Moale" you will see the real deal there.

What effect would having the bows closer together than the sterns? Toed in?
