Anyone have any information about a Simpson 8.3m sailing Catamaran . I have just purchased one, it needs two fixed keels repaired or daggerboards fitted and other minor repairs. Any info about this design would be great, I can't find a single thing on the web apart from boatcraft plans. Thanks

I think you might be out of luck. Roger stopped designing multihulls long ago

If you are on Facebook join up at the Multihull Appreciation Society. There are some boatbuilders there who have had experience with Simpson designs and should be able to help you with your repairs and information on the design.

In your opinion would a catamaran of, mentioned design benefit from daggerboards being fitted? And if so where could I get design plans for daggerboards?

Pm me about study plans, as for daggerboards I’d say a big yes, keels don’t really suit this boat inmho.
I’d ask boatcraft about just buying prints of the relevant drawings.

I have a bunch of Simpson design study plan sets (including the 8.3) all sourced from Boatcraft. A couple of times I've tried to buy individual plan sheets to clarify questions the SPs didn't answer but they wouldn't oblige. That said, the cost of a set of plans for this design is hardly excessive and might be worth having on hand if contemplating a major rebuild.

Pretty sure catmando’s boat was the 9m Groundeffect. Similar hull shape.
The formula moulds were bought by Raven somebody, I think they are no longer. Would be nice to know where those moulds are though.

I tried to find the owners of the F1 moulds a while back. Maybe january this year ? There were 2 associated companies, Stallion marine and another. I found a phone number for the other sent a message etc got no reply. No sign of stallion. They were north of brissy somewhere, maybe caboolture or something...
