inboard 4 cylinder swap

    i want to put a 20r toyota motor in my mercruiser 165 stern drive...can i do it?

    If you have enough money, time and expertise, then yes. However, there will be a lot of custom fabricating and custom marinizing of parts, including the fuel system. What is wrong with the original motor?

    blown head or gasket...i have the other motor sitting here and thought what the heck..thanks for the reply ,...maybe i'll just look for a new 6 cyl...was a free boat and is my first so there are big dreams that may exceed my realities

    A head gasket is fairly cheap and changing it only takes a few hours. You don't even need to take the engine off the boat.
