www.addall.com and go to the USED book menu.

This site quires dozens of other sites for lowest pricing and lists them all.

They had a few Sensible Cruising Designs about $15.00 this AM,the The Common Sense of Yacht Design was $80.

So, where are we at the moment?
Can this book be reprinted yse or no? - If there are some reprints after Herreshof's death, you have to take 50 years from the last date of printing before it comes into public domain.
Fact is, that you in the US have a much better system to handle your heritage.
Over here, no body gives a **** fill in what you like.....
In any case I would like to have a copy; I have seen some Herreshoff's replica's and even his pre-war I designs look marvellous.

I guess I'm confused. Is it that you want a new, unused copy? There are original prints available online through numerous outlets.

O, I thought that they were only available in antiquariat. I haven't seen a copy overhere, there used to be a specialised bookshop in Amsterdam where I bought books now and then, but I haven't been there for some time.
In any case, I had the impression that some were willing to undertake the efforts to print his book anew. But if the estate is printing now and then some copies, the copyright still remains intact and does not fall in the public domain as long as they can prove that they are the owners of the copyright.
    Copyright doesn't go on eternally.

You can purchase used copies quite readily here in the U.S. I've purchased boat parts in G.B online and have never had any problem getting them shipped over here. The saving on the V.A.T. actually paid for most of the shipping. I've had really good experience purchasing used books online. I would assume that they could ship overseas. I can't say that I've tried to ship anything out of the country though.

    Antiquariat?

If anyone is keeping a tally, I don't need a copy of a new printing anymore. I found a very nice copy on the used market and bought it.

Here they are - only I made a mistake: this is the design of Nathaniel Herreshoff, around 1916.

    D'Artois,

Look at posts #46 and #47 if you are looking for copies of "The Common Sense of Yacht Design."

Put my card down yesterday, tho I didn't see it here, but on WBforum. And someone (I@#$t!) complained about self advertisement when DNGoodchild posted that he had them, and for SUCH a price. Not that it hadn't been requested and lamented about by many members. Got a good lambasting he did for that post!

As of interest I have a copy ofCSYD by Caravan- Maritime. Not only that but also own "The Sailng Machine" featured in vol 2 page 119. It was built here in N.Z. 1958 and had the canting keel for about 2 years untill it was banned for having movable ballast. Built by Jim Young and he chickened out on the 6' beam and gave her 7'. Goes like hell.

Has anything ever come of this effort to get the book reprinted? I am just becoming acquainted with the Herreshoff 28 and would like to get a chance to know more about the book. Please respond if you can.

    Thanks

    Jeff
