Can High Density Polyethylene be used as a well suited hull material for a 21 ft boat?

Let's see now. Heavy, flexible at normal temperature, breaks at low temperature and weaker than most other competing materials. Did I mention heavy. Makes good fuel and water tanks.

Ok, its possible to make boats with HDPE but not for me.

There is a company in Australia that has successfully made two 30' conventional hull powerboats out of this material.......I wonder how they pulled taht off from all the negative things I have heard about it's use as boat building material.......hhhmmmm.

Triumph seems to think so and their weight is in the range of other materials. And I've banged a HDPE boat around on ice with no problems.

That is a lie! No, two lies.

HDPE is substantially heavier than wood or GRP for a given strength. (and even then a very bad choice)

And you did for sure not bounce around on ice with a HDPE boat.

You have already been asked if you have ever seen a boat.

May I ask again here: have you ever seen a boat jonr?

Why are you commenting exclusively on topics you have absolute no idea about?

About the "success" I have my doubts, but anyway, you asked for a sailboat or not? And apex asked where would you attach the loads from rigging and a keel, or not?
    So, where?

    I will tell you: nowhere.

Build yoor tanks from HDPE if you must.

    Why not use epoxy instead?
